This may sound a little strange but I'm hoping some of you lovey curlies and wavies can help me out. I'm trying to find some products that will work for my hair that don't really have much smell to them.

I'm currently trying to find a shampoo, sealer/styler. I know some of you use tapatalk and such and can't see signatures so my hair properties (to the best of my knowledge) are:
  • Very fine
  • High porosity (too much dying I suppose)
  • Medium/thin density
  • Low elasticity
  • Protein craving

I have severe asthma that is poorly controlled at the moment and I've cut everything, and I do mean everything, out of my beauty routine that has fragrances and/or strong scents. I even had to throw out all my dryer sheets and stuff because the fragrance lingering on my clothes would make it too difficult to breath. When I went through tossing things or storing them away for now I had to toss some products I was using for my hair which is why now I need replacements. Hopefully once I get my asthma under control I can go back to being more lenient with scents but who knows.

The lo-poo I had been using had a relatively strong minty smell to it and as much as I otherwise liked it, it is gone for now. I had also been using a tiny bit of SM curl enhancing smoothie mixed into my leave-in to help seal in bad dews to manage moisture but it had to go also. I think it may have been a little too heavy for my fine hair anyhow so it is less of a loss.

As far as my hair goals I'm hoping to cut frizz, define curls and keep my hair from going limp by noon. My hair likes protein so protein in a product is fine. Lack of protein is okay also as I can always add a little CNPF.

Sorry this is so long. Here is a short summary if you don't want to read it all!

TLDR: I need a lo-poo and styler/sealer for fine, highly porous hair that has little to no scent or fragrance. Help!

I'd suggest flax seed gel, plain with no scent. It works really good and it's natural smell is very mild and disappears into your hair.

Jessicurl has an unscented version of all of her products. I order them through aveyou.com, shipping is $4 unless you spend $50, then it's only $1. Also, use the coupon code: FIVE to receive 15% off!

Flaxseed is another great idea and if you don't feel like making your own, Sweet Curls Elixirs sells it along with other hair and body products on Etsy. You can even make a custom order with your favorite add-ins and choose to have them unscented.

I was going to suggest FSG too. Easy enough to add your own oils so it seals, or protein to help boost fine hair.

I haven't used any of the following, just did a quick search for fragrance free products. That said...

Desert Essence has a fragrance free line, but although it's technically sulfate free, I wouldn't call the shampoo "gentle" since it has Sodium Coco-Sulfate. If you don't shampoo all the time or your hair /scalp don't tend to be dry, it may not be an issue for you. Ingredients for the shampoo are as follows:

Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice*, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract (Green Tea)*, Coco-Glucoside (Coconut/Sugar), Sodium Coco-Sulfate (Coconut), Lauryl Glucoside (Coconut/Sugar), Decyl Glucoside (Coconut/Sugar), Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, Sodium Chloride, Glycerin (Palm)*, Panthenol (Pro-Vitamin B-5), Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil*, Lepidium Meyenii Root Extract (Maca Root)*, Yucca Brevifolia Root Extract (Yucca Cactus)*, Symphytum Officinale Leaf Extract (Comfrey)*, Urtica Dioica (Nettle) Leaf Extract *, Macrocystis Pyrifera Extract (Sea Kelp)*, Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract*, Citric Acid, Potassium Sorbate

The entire Free and Clear product line is both fragrance free and hypoallergenic.

Shampoo ingredients:
purified water, lauryl glucoside, coco glucoside, acrylates copolymer, disodium cocoyl glutamate, sodium cocoyl glycinate, glycerin, sucrose cocoate, panthenol, pentylene glycol, 1,2-hexanediol, sodium cocoyl glutamate, disodium EDTA, caprylyl glycol, sodium hydroxide, sodium chloride

Styling gel ingredients:
purified water, VP/VA copolymer, panthenol, PEG-45 palm kernel glycerides, 1,2-hexanediol, PEG-14, acrylates/C10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer, PEG-33, caprylyl glycol, PEG-8 dimethicone, aminomethyl propanol, tetrasodium EDTA
CG since 11/2011
2c /3a F /Mii, low porosity

Autumn Products /Routine:
Clarifying: ACV rinses, Suave Professional Men Deep Clean Peppermint
Low Poo: Renpure Luxurious Argan Oil
Co-washes: VO5 Kiwi Lime Squeeze or Strawberries & Cream
RO: VO5 KLS or S&C, Cure Care
LI (if needed): VO5 S&C, VO5 KLS, Cure Care
Stylers: FSG, L'Oreal Studio Clean gel, Tresemme Flawless Curls Bouncy Curls gel
PT: IAGirl's as needed
All of Shea Moisture's products are free of synthetic fragrances. The raw shea butter stuff really doesn't smell, but the coconut and hibiscus line has a strong scent of coconuts.

Desert Essence makes a fragrance free conditioner that's pretty good, too

(I have an allergy to fragrances, for what it's worth)
Alba Botanica makes quite a few fragrance-free hair products. You can get the whole line I believe on iherb, alternately I've seen some at health food shops like Whole Foods.

Jessicurl has fragrance-free options on all their products.

FSG that you make at home or order from Sweet Curls Elixirs.
