cone users, how often do you shampoo?

I got some new things to try, and they have dimethicone and/or cyclomethicone and/or phenyl trimethicone. I used cones before, but have not been using them since last Sept. Back then, I washed every two days with a sulfate shampoo. Now I'm down to once a week washing with usually a non-sulfate shampoo. I still wet and restyle every day, though.

So I guess I'm wondering if I try these coney products, how long before I need to shampoo? Please tell me your experiences with how fast these cones build up. I've got lots of dry 3b hair if that matters.
3b/c normally, 3a/b in the winter

i don't use cyclomethicone but use stuff with amodimethicone and dimethicone--products by deva and GF. I do not shampoo at all except before coloring so that would be every 6 weeks. i put oils in my hair daily before i swim and co wash w suave naturals. seems to get everything out.

Well, I have lots of long, dry 3B hair, and like banjo, I mainly use lots of amodimethicone, which I find washes out very easily. I use a non-sulfate poo like Shikai or ABBA about twice a week, just a pea-sized amount on my scalp. And I have no build up issues.

I shampoo every other day. I use Framesi Options Indulge shampoo which seems very mild, my hair hasn't dried out at all using it. I use a different conditioner almost every day (I have about 12 to choose from....can someone say PJ?). Some of them have cones in them, so I make sure to shampoo regularly. Plus my hair gets overconditioned easily.

I had some serious damage about a year ago from some highlights that were overlapped, and I thought by not shampooing and not using cones my hair would be much healthier. But it seems that since I went back to my old routine, my hair really is much healthier now.

It seems to really depend on your individual hair type. For me, shampooing works well every other day.
