How to keep curls in shape for a week?

Since my hair is reaching WL, it may be possible that I only have once a week time to wash and detangle my hair. But mostly I cannot hold on that long without washing because I get a lot of flyaways around my clumps :/.

Some information about my routine:
* YTCarrots is my leave-in
* during summer I usually don't use sealing oil
* coconut oil is my prewash
* I co-wash and only clarify once a month
* once in a few weeks I do a protein rinse-out (hydrolyzed keratin)
* I workout 3x a week
* overnight I braid my hair into 4 sections
* My hair didn't like the gel I have atm (now I only use it for a sleek ponytail)
* Usually, I wear my hair loose
* Edit: I sleep on a pillow covered with a satin-silk scarf

So what are your suggestions to beat the flyaways, so that I can stretch my wash days to only every 7 days?
CG, waist-length when wet, loose 3b w/ 3c-y napes, high density, kinking hair
Climate: dew = 40 - 60 F, 70-95% humidity
Goal: reduce tangles and flyaways

Clarify: YTCar poo
Low poo: Harmonie Familie
Co&RO: Argan Care
LI: Andrelon Zijdeglans & Zen + YTC (orange sticker)
Sealant: sunflower oil
Protein RO: Schwarzkopf anti-klit Co
Pre-wash: coconut or olive oil

: coconut oil, wash days, dew = 50s, 50-70% humidity
: rain, high humidity, cones or humectants?

I've found that aloe vera gel is the only thing I can put on 2nd+ day hair and not weigh it down. It does help smooth my frizz down. Sleeping on silk (whether pillowcase or bonnet) is helpful too; it definitely cuts down the frizz vs other materials for me.
Thanks for your suggestion . I'm gonna look for 100% pure aloe vera gel (or powder) when I'm on holiday in India.
I already sleep on a pillow covered with a satin scarf.
But I won't mind weighing down because I want to show length

If you don't mind getting weighed down there are probably tons of oils you can use in your hair. Coconut is popular. I just can't use oils in my hair.

I notice in your edited note you mention a satin silk scarf. I tried satin and it was better than cotton but still frizzy for me. Only 100% silk gave my hair minimal frizz. But everyone differs on that, some are fine with satin.
Coconut oil is my best friend during summer, but it does not combat the flyaways enough imo.
What I mean with "satin silk" is just pure silk, but very smoothly woven (easy to find in India lol).

I'll be following this for answers as I have similar issues, mostly it going really frizzy
I'm wondering: do you notice difference in frizz by showering with or without plastic cap? I.e. may steam cause the flyaways?

Definitely. Even when I blow dried my hair straight (lol, it was only faux straight anyways). Frizz always popped up during showers, esp when I didn't wear a shower cap. A shower cap, for me, helped my hair stay "like it was before" the shower on non hair washing days.
My hair is no where near as curly as yours but I do some things to make my waves last the week
I also wash and detangle my waist length hair once a week only, it's so much easier.

*Before sleeping, I plop my hair dry at night with a t shirt, usually with a bit of conditioner or olive oil on the ends.

*I wear my hair up more than I wear it down, I also check the weather outside before I have to go out somewhere, if it's windy then I always wear it up in a bun or pinned back, this protects curls from becoming frizzy, flyaway or just limp as the day goes on.
Pre Shampoo: Olive Oil, Wilko Kids Detangle Spray
Low Shampoo: Redken Curvaceous Cream Shampoo
Conditioner: Redken Diamond Oil Conditioner
Leave in/Oil: Olive Oil/Redken Diamond Oil Conditioner
Styling: AG Recoil Curl Activator, V05 Mega Hold, Cornstarch
Refresh: Redken Fresh Curls Curl Boost

Waist Length, 2B with 2C ends
You can try a custard like styling product. It will hold for 7 days. My fav is cantu curling custard.
I use Shea Moisture Curling Gel Souffle on my wet hair, then refresh with it throughout the week. It works wonders on frizz and does elongate the hair a bit (though I like volume so I diffuse.) I think the reason it works is that it gives moisture and hold, to keep the clumps intact, so if you can find any product like that it should help. You can also experiment with some half up styles when the front pieces start to get wonky.
2c/3a, botticelli/s'wavy, thick hair
First Devacut 3.5.14, CG 9.11.14
Pic not me but looks like a hair twin.

GOD really loves you. ∞

Thanks for sharing your experiences .
I think a shower cap will help a lot for me. However, now I'm in search for a big cap so that it even fits when I wear a bun. where in Holland can I find it? Or only online?

For me my problem is refreshing with water and adding more product but trying not to add too much that my hair will be greasy and weighed down. Hmmmm
3A 3B mix
Very thick hair
Colored
Low porosity
Medium coarse texture

Lo-Poo- Yes to Cucumbers
Co-wash- Yes to Cucumbers, As I Am Co-wash
RO-Yes to blueberries, GVPCB, CJ curl assurance conditioner
DT- CJ curl rehab
LI- As I Am leave in, KCKT

Style- Sauve Everlasting Sunshine
Misc- CJ Smoothing lotion
I also have long hair, and I usually wash twice a week. If my curls are struggling by the third or fourth day, and it seems like they wouldn't respond well to extra product, I do a braid or updo. For me it's the great advantage to having longer hair, especially in hot climates. Maybe updos could help you stretch your washes?
2c/3a, dense, fairly coarse, normal porosity and elasticity, bsl curly, WL wet
Low poo: Giovanni 50 50
Co-wash: down under naturals, tresume naturals
RO: AOHR
LI: Giovanni Direct, Desert Essence curl cream
Stylers: kccc, HE smu, brhg
Oils: coconut, argan or evoo
Every 3 to 4 days washing is the most favourable for me too. I pull over loose hair way better, but I may try a side braid.

I mixed aloe vera gel with a tiny bit of coconut oil in a small spray bottle of water and I find that If I spritz my hair with that everyday my hair looks just as good as my second day hair (which is best for me).
I can go a full week without washing it.

BUT

The longer I go without washing it the more tangled it gets!
hanban likes this.
Mostly 3b with 3a and 3c underneath
Layered but mostly BSL (Hip length when straight)
Conditioner: As I am Cowash, OR Tresseme Naturals OR Shea Moisture Masque.

Style: KC Knot Today+ a TINY bit Shea Moisture Curl Smoothie.
2nd-6th day hair: Spritz with a mixture of Aloe Vera Gel, Coconut Oil, and water.

A lot of wavies and curlies need to at least rinse their hair more than once a week for either detangling or frizz/ pouf.

There are some long haired Curly Girls on YouTube posting their overnight/ refreshing routines. Waterlily716 used to be at least waist length, Curlywavydiane currently is, there are others with tighter curl patterns.

Sadly my style never survives being very sweaty/ a workout, rarely survives a shower due to the humidity. I recently found that mousses can give better overnight root frizz control than commercial gel, others swear by flaxseed gel in spray form.
2a-2c, medium texture, porous/ colour treated. Three years CG. Past bra strap length heading for waist.

CO-wash: Inecto coconut/ Elvive Volume Collagen
Treatments: Komaza Care Matani, coconut/ sweet almond/ fractionated coconut oils, Hairveda Sitrinillah
Leave in: Fructis Sleek & Shine (old), Gliss Ultimate Volume, various Elvive
Styler: Umberto Giannini jelly, Au Naturale styling gelee
Flour sack towel, pixie diffuse or air dry.
Experimenting with: benign neglect
Thanks for your YouTube suggestions Firefox .

Atm I'm on holiday in India where the dews are in the 60s but with 50 - 70% humidity. Apparently, my hair likes it and I may stretch my washes between to a week! I also use a shower cap now, which also has reduced my flyaways. Now I need way less coconut oil and LI as refreshments. My curls are quite loose but that's my intention.

Mostly I wear my hair in a side ponytail or just loose atm.

However, I'm still have to check if this condition is also caused by that I don't do sweaty workout during holiday lol.
