A.t.m. I am using Shea Moisture Curling Gel Souffle to scrunch into dry hair. It has moisture and hold which is what my hair needs each day to hold up. I also shuffle my roots with fingers for added volume. Once my hair is beyond salvation down I wear it up in a variety of styles. I want to experiments with diy spray gel.

I've yet to get 2nd day hair, so I'll hang out here for suggestions.

When I use KCKT and KCCC with a harder hold gel I just spritz with a bit of water and diffuse lightly. I can get about three days with those products and method. However, my scalp is itching like mad by that time whether my allergies are flared up or not.

With SM I just use some of the ABS spray on my scalp b/c this really does stop the itching and refresh with the curl and shine spray. No diffusing required, just a fluff of the roots. I've gotten four day hair using this method. I could go longer but I've been experimenting lately so I haven't gone any further.

I also sleep with a satin cap and on a satin pillowcase.
Very fine, high porosity, currently dyed and growing out the relaxed portions. I'm pretty sure my hair's 3b something IIRC. We will be finding out for sure as time goes by.

It's official: My hair just loves Shea Moisture. I use a mixture of products from the Raw Shea Butter, African Black Soap, and Coconut & Hibiscus lines.
Currently, on wash day, i apply my It's A 10 Leave In, detangle, apply my Mixed Chicks Leave as my styler and let my hair airdry. I only wash my hair every 7 days. At night, i pull my hair back into a ponytail and i do use a small scrunchie to secure my ponytail. And, i do sleep on satin pillowcases. I have stopped wearing my hair covered with a bonnet at night, because the weather where I live at in Southern Louisiana is very hot at this time. Wearing a bonnet, makes my head sweat more in this heat, so its a no-no for me right now!

When it comes to getting 2nd day hair and beyond, i really don't do a whole lot. I try to keep things simple.

In the morning, i will simply either just re-apply a bit more of the Mixed Chicks Leave In and let my hair airdry. Or, i will use my Q-Redew first towards reviving my curls, and then i will follow this up with re-applying a bit more of the Mixed Chicks Leave In and let my curls airdry as usual. Besides the Heutiful Hair Steamer that I own, the Q-Redew is one of the best appliances i have found for use on my hair. Now, if I am rushed for time, I will apply a couple of sprays of the Wave Nouveau Finishing Mist to my curls to both revive, soften, and add shine to my curls instantly. It is the best curl refresher spray that i have found. And, one bottle of it, happens to last me a really long time.

The Q-Redew changed my life. I know that sounds corny, but I had a lot of trouble getting 2nd day hair until I got my Q-Redew last year. I LOVE it. On day 2, I wake up, use my Q-Redew, and a lot of times, that's it! Some days, especially in high dewpoint weather, I also wet it a little after I use the Q-Redew and put in a little gel or LI, depending on what I think my hair needs.

3A, a mix of boticelli, corkicelli, and a few s-waves, baby fine, naturally porous, medium/high density

Color treated with demi-permanent color to cover first grays
I'm super happy because I just found out what works for my hair! First, on wash day, I pre-poo with olive oil for 30 minutes or so. Then before bed when my hair is dry I'll do chunky twists throughout my hair, wrap my head, and go to sleep. When I take out the twists the next day I get just the results I'm looking for.
