I recently just tried this and it was an amazing protein treatment! I search this forum on other people's experience and didn't find much. Why isn't this hyped up more? Gelatin has more than enough hydrolyzed protein and it's cheap. What are your experiences and thoughts?

But open to new suggestions!
I've used it for 3 years, and it's my go to pt. Never lets me down. You may hear it referred to as "the gelatin pt" or "the gelatin pt on Science-y Hair Blog" (it's written by IAGirl), as opposed to "IAGirl's PT". Many many of us recommend it to newbies for their first attempt at a protein treatment.

The original thread about it is here: PT recipe - as promised

Yup, it works like a dream. I use it almost every time I wash my hair, and it helped my hair be strong enough to hold onto curl. I also have a healthy bounce to my hair when I use it.
Actually, we've been talking about it quite a bit for the past couple of months, recommending it to anyone with hair damage or droopy curls, and I'm sure it's been talked about frequently before.

But I'm new to it myself, have only done it once, I think it was already like a month ago and I liked the results. I had a bit leftover and saved it in the fridge and later melted it again and used it as a gel with great results. Although my hair is now very short, because I used bleach a few days ago your post has made me think that I should do it again.

I think it's really wonderful that we can have such a superior PT at such a low, low cost, and so easy to find too, so God bless the first person who decided to try it. I'd actually heard about many years ago, but mainly used as a hair gel and in those days I didn't even use a gel so I soon set that thought aside.
