JoiWhip questions!

OK, I got this off the swap board (thank you, kind swapper! HUGE thanks, actually, since I can't get this anywhere locally) and tried it once. Mr. C loved it, so that's a good sign right there.

Read over some of the Whip threads, it sounds like most of you use this over a leave-in and maybe re:coil? Does ANYone use a gel with this? Pros or cons to that? Also, does anyone use CK over or under it for frizz control?

I'm looking for fairly big curly hair. Using the JW on its own, I got big & curly, which became progressively bigger and frizzier (less curly). So I need an extra something, just not sure what. I don't use re:coil anymore but any thoughts from the experts?

I'm fine 3b-ish, heavily frizz prone.

I use Phytodefrisant under it which helps keep the frizz at bay. Don't know how to get the big hair thing going though as it's something I avoid like the plague!
I would think a good leave-in underneath should help you. I use it over fastfood or GF Curl & Shine and recoil. I've found that recoil cuts down frizz for me if I use enough (2-3 pumps). I have not tried using a gel with it since joiwhip has plenty of hold on its own. I imagine CK would work well under it too.

I love to scrunch in a titch of BRHG over joiwhip! It's giving me great volume, plus it looks very moisturized!
I'm a 3b, with 3c underneath.

Used to be CG, now I'm not. Using Suave Aloe & Waterlily shampoo & condish, JoiWhip, BRHG, Suave Aloe gel, Aussie Tizz No Frizz, and anything else that looks good!

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone!

Last night I tried a little CJ HB leave in, layered with a little CK and then plopped a few minutes to get hair from sopping to damp. Then small squirt JW. The result was big hair but not a lot of defined curl. I got better curl definition without the leave-in.

I think tonight I'll try it solo, with a little BRHG on top. That'll be too much protein for daily use, but it sounds promising.

I bought the JW, but haven't used it.

Do you guys diffuse? Hot or warm or cool?
I am just wondering, is this Icewhip you girls are talking about the same as the Joico Ice Whip mousse I used to use or are we talking about something totally different? I love volume too and used to love Ice Whip mousse.

It's the same thing. It's JoiWhip now, formerly called Ice Whip, right? My local Trade Secret does not carry it, the bustards.

My experiments are on hold for a few days until a new shower filter gets installed. My Sprite slimline broke and now there's another filter in there but it's not the same. I could really tell the difference when I was out of state for a few days and my hair felt smooth, then I come back and right away in the shower no matter what I do and WITH the filter, my hair feels so rough. I can't say how much I hate my water.

So ANYway, yeah, I like the volume for sure, I just don't want a big puff of frizz.

I am totally hooked on the JW/BRHG combo! I definitely recommend it to anyone that doesn't get enough hold or definition from joiwhip alone.

Yes, it was formerly IceWhip, but has the same ingredients.

Going natural for the summer...just a dab of ArcAngell!
I found it and bought it at Kroger.
I was going to Trade Secret.
Okay, I've been wracking my brains. What's BRHG? (I sometimes use Biolage Gelee over the Joiwhip in just the areas that need a little extra hold).

Ah, thank you. No relation, then, to my Biolage (Firm Hold) Gelee. So close.
