Am a guy.. need some help!

I was wondering if I could get some help on managing my hair. I've started to grow my hair since 8-9 months now and I have a major frizz problem. My hair starts to become straight from certain parts and I'm not really sure what to do with my hair because I don't want to use the wrong products. Honestly, I don't know what to buy! I'm always travelling by bike and I can't tie my hair back because it's not long enough and it becomes a mess!!! Would it help if I post a picture somewhere so you guys know what my hair looks like? I really dunno how to go about telling you all about my hair. Hehe. Anyway..looking forward to some replies soon! Here's a link to my photo just to give you guys an idea of what my hair type is.. this is the best I've been able to ever get my curls to stay put.. I use Loreal's 'absolut repair' so it kinda flattens my hair! I havent been able to get my hair this controlled as you can see in the pic in like months now!!

You look like a 3B to me. I think alot of 3A-3Bs have had some real success (myself included) with Loreal Out of Bed Weightless Texturizer (LOOB) There are 2 separate threads on the Product Review Board. I suggest layering this LOOB under a mousse or a gel. Gels give harder holds than mousses generally. It may work even better with a leave in conditioner under all of it... Here is my order of use for my own head
condish wash
condish leave in Trop Coconut Suave dime size amount
Jessicurl Rockin Ringlets
LOOB (2 4 1 deals avail u just gotta look)
Mousse
AirDry (NO TOUCHING)
This results in less POOF and less frizz with defined shiny curls.
Hope this helps

Hey, you've got great curls.
I agree that you do need a lot of hold...especially with the bike thing. Although I'm not sure if your hair gets frizzy just because of biking or possibly it's dry also. Naturally curly hair tends to be dry.
If it is dry then you need a good conditioner and don't rinse it all out--leave just a little bit in.
Also as far as a mousse recommendation goes. I just tried Herbal Essences Body youuEnvy Mousse and so far I really like it. Also people on this board rave about Joiwhip by Joico. That's one I really want to try because supposedly it doesn't weigh down your curls too much.
I tend to use A LOT of mousse. It dries with a wet crunchy look so I have to scrunch the curls. Afterward they have a naturally--no longer wet appearance.
Good luck.

@echokitten - Thanks a lot for the tips. I'll try and see if I can find LOOB here. India doesn't get to much of imported products here!

@CurlyRuthy _ Hey, thank you! I think my hair is very dry and I've been applying olive oil twice a week but that doesn't seem to really make a diff! Could you recommend a good conditioner that could tackle that problem? Also, does mousse tend to give dandruff problems? I have that issue if I don't really use an anti-dandruff shampoo!
Hi

Your curls look lovely, nice shiney ringlets! I was just wondering, do you use anti-dandruff shampoo all the time? I ask because the ones I have seen and used, always tend to be *very* drying, which of course, makes hair a lot frizzier.

As for LOOB, I found some on eBay last week, perhaps you might have some luck there?

Best wishes

Also Maybe you have a dry scalp due to the lack of conditioner? Just a thought....Some posters have had luck with aloe vera pure gel, or lavender oils and water.
I don't find that mousse makes my scalp flaky at all to answer your question. Sometimes you may get good moisturizing/styling results with cream stylers, like cream gels or leave ins.
Definitely try ebay for the LOOB...a great place to get hair stuff if there ever was.

oh you have great ringlets!!

Mine is 3b on top, and I like to use something with good hold to keep the ringlets in place. First, make sure you use a thick conditioner as a leave-in. The coconut oil is great for deep treats, but use some conditioner as a leave-in. Then, find a hard-hold gel and scrunch that in over it - not a whole lot - start with a dime-sized amount. I like Biosilk Rock Hard Gelee, but I don't know if you have that there. Also, Garnier Fructis Hard Curl Gel is good.

The conditioner-gel combination gives my more shiny, moisturized curls while the hard gel gives me hold to keep the ringlets.
I'm a 3b, with 3c underneath.

Used to be CG, now I'm not. Using Suave Aloe & Waterlily shampoo & condish, JoiWhip, BRHG, Suave Aloe gel, Aussie Tizz No Frizz, and anything else that looks good!

Curled, next time your in a store that carries conditioners --- make a note of what brands they carry. Then you could send us a few names and someone on the board might be familiar with them and make a recommendation. Or else you can just get a nice thick conditioner and add your own stuff to it like coconut oil or shea butter. The more natural ingredients like extracts and oils in the conditioner --- the better.
