So lost...

Hi curlies! I'm having some issues and need some advice and I'm apologizing in advance for a long post!
Two years ago I did a big chop and went strictly DevaCurl/CG method. My hair is now to my bra line when dry and curly. I had to stop using DC products exclusively since they are so expensive and I've been trying out different products to get a similar result as DC but no luck yet! My hair is color treated but I can't afford to go to my Deva stylist every time I need a color done so I do it myself. My hair just seems so dry, especially on the ends and I believe its because of the products since I either co-wash with a VO5 conditioner or use a low/no sulfate shampoo by Ion and RO condition with low/no silicone conditioners like Tresseme or Ion. I loved the results I got with the DC Volumizing Foam and Ultra Defining Gel so I tried to stick with the mousse/gel combo. Right now I'm using Ion Curl Whip (I believe that's the name) and following it with Herbal Essence curl gel, but my hair is not liking something! It hasn't been the same since I stopped using DC products. Its puffy, somewhat frizzy, dry and tangly, especially the underside, after it dries. I finger detangle in the shower while my conditioner is sitting but it takes so long and it hurts like crazy! I want to get a good deep conditioning treatment to use weekly but my hair did not like DC's Heaven In Hair, it just didn't seem to do anything positive. I'm also looking for a good RO conditioner that has a lot of slip to help detangle, as well as mousse/gel products that may help combat the frizz and not dry my hair out. However, I am open to trying different types on styling products, I just don't know which direction to go in!
I live on the MS Gulf Coast so its pretty much always humid here and my hair poufs and I sometimes get crown frizz on very humid days. I have no idea on protein sensitivity or porosity and density. I think I have 2b/c to 3a curls. Help!

Deva products are full of glycerin, perhaps your hair does well with it?

The Herbal Essences gel - if you're talking about Totally Twisted, I believe that has a silicone in it?

The ingredients for the Curl Whip I've found:

WATER ,CARBON DIOXIDE ,VINYL CAPROLACTAM/VP/DIMETHYLAMINOETHYL ,CETEARYL ALCOHOL ,PETROLATUM ,MINERAL OIL ,PROPYLENE GLYCOL ,PEG-8 ,QUATERNIUM-80 ,PEG-20 STEARATE ,PHENOXYETHANOL ,CAPRYLYL GLYCOL ,FRAGRANCE ,POLYSORBATE 20 ,POTASSIUM SORBATE ,SODIUM CHLORIDE ,HEXYLENE GLYCOL ,PANTHENOL ,HYDROLYZED WHEAT PROTEIN ,HYDROLYZED WHEAT STARCH ,MENTHA PIPERITA (PEPPERMINT) OIL ,MENTHOL ,SODIUM BENZOATE ,ALPHA ISOMETHYL IONONE ,BENZYL BENZOATE ,BUTYLPHENYL METHYLPROPIONAL ,CITRONELLOL ,GERANIOL ,HEXYL CINNAMAL ,LIMONENE ,LINALOOL ,BENZYL ALCOHOL

The bolded are potential causes of why your hair may be acting the way it is. Petrolatum is very thick and can cause major buildup. Mineral oil may cause buildup in some people, others love it. Protein - if your hair doesn't need it. Menthol and Benzyl alcohol can both be drying.

These are some things to consider when searching for new products. I would do a true clarifying wash and start over.
2c-3a - med-coarse - normal-high porosity - high density

Thank you both so much! I do have a Sallys and will check that condish out. Any suggestions on styling products that may contain similar ingredients as DC?
