Is my hair broken? HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Help, recently my hair has been acting weird. When i pull my curls they don't bounce back, they just sit there, my hair is rough. Any suggestions? Can i fix my hair back? I co-wash everyday, could that be the problem? And I just recently started using aloe vera gel, but I don't think that could be the problem.

Perhaps over conditioned?

Two words: eggwhite mask. Your hair is overconditioned. Balance your hair strands with moisture AND protein ladies!
Skinny hair with no curves and proud!

*hair is still heatdamaged, I'm growing it out*
Do you have hard water? Limp curls sound like over-conditioning, but rough hair could be due to mineral deposits or even product buildup. You might clarify, then use something protein-y. I get better results out of protein (esp. protein treatments) if I apply them to freshly washed (or freshly clarified) hair.

If you have sallys there is a great hard water clarifying shampoo there you could use occasionally. It's by Ion. Says for hard water right on the label.

I have a better time just using protein in products, others like specific protein treatments. That's something else I really like at Sally's, and it is the Ion Effective Care. It is a nice proteiny conditioner. To me it is gentler than say putting gelatin or egg white mask in your hair. I use it about once a week as a rinse out or, putting it in and putting a plastic cap on and letting it set for a good 45 minutes. You can also put some heat on it if you have a thermal wrap. Anyhow I like it because it is both protein and deep conditioning. It seems a good compromise for me. If you get that and you feel it is helping but you aren't seeing a lot of improvement maybe try it twice a week. But then back off again if you reach a point you think your hair is acting well. It's a nice product for a reasonable price so I really quite like it.

Oh! and another nice way to get your hair to hang on to moisture and strengthen it is coconut oil. Have you ever used it? Some people think it has protein but it really isn't. It is however one of the oils that can really penetrate the hair. It can help fill in porous hair and make it stronger. Again amounts and such varies from person to person. But it really is nice. Anymore you can find it at most grocery stores which is nice. I find my hair can really suck it up. But I have very porous hair from coloring. Some people say they have trouble washing it out but I never have. However I put a bunch in the night before I do a diluted sulfate wash. I don't know if it would co-wash out that well if you use quite a bit. Again something you'd have to experiment with. There are a lot of vids on coconut oil treatments. Here is one with a 3c/4a pattern (she uses glycerin with her coconut oil. I don't know for sure that that would make a big difference?) and it's done on wet hair and rinsed right away. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DRH-m3AceRo

And this gal does it like I do, putting it on dry, sleeping on it and then doing a full routine the next day. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-mEzv8tDzI

So anyway if you *haven't* done coconut oil before, maybe that would be a good thing to try as well. If you have maybe one of these videos will give you an idea of a different way to try it then you have previously.
