Default I'm in a hair funk

My hair was consistently fabulous about 2 weeks ago. It had been like that for a while - shiny, fairly frizz-free, lots of volume but not too much, etc...and now it's horrible! I haven't changed my routine at all but now my hair is dull and frizzy and not curling very well. Does this happen to anybody else? What should I do? This is my routine:

- Shampoo every other day with Head & Shoulders 2 in 1
- Condition every day with Fructis hydra liss or the one for curly hair
- DT once a week with Fructis hydra liss DT
- Rinse upside down about 80%
- Plop in a mf towel for about 5 minutes
- Spray Joico daily care leave-in when I remember
- Scrunch upside down with mixture of Fructis curl cream and Re:coil
- Smooth a bit of Fructis curl cream on the outside layer of my hair (not upside down anymore)
- Let air dry about 15 min
- Diffuse till dry

I don't know if maybe I have build-up, or my hair is damaged, or what, but it looks awful and I end up putting it in a ponytail, which I hate. Any suggestions? Pics in my album if you need to see the type of hair I have.

TIA!

It could be build-up. The Fructis curl cream (the soft curl cream?) has dimethicone in it plus using the 2 in 1 shampoo might have a silicone in it as well and possibly causing build up. You might want to try clarifying. I've used Suave Professionals Clarifying shampoo or VO5 Clarifying shampoo to get rid of build up on my hair and it seems to bring it back to life. BTW, your hair is gorgeous!

I do a lemon rinse when my hair gets like that. Works great, shiny, bouncy hair again. Now instead of waiting until my hair looks flat and dull, I just lemon rinse every 2 weeks. I have much less bad hair days.

I do an apple cider vinegar rinse to get the volume, curl and shine. I dilute it about 1:3 ACV to water.

Great, thanks! It's nice to know what to do when my hair gets like this...seems like it happens every couple months. Izzyvet, how do you do a lemon rinse? What's the dilution of lemon to water?

Hobbs, I do it exactly like aerohead! Just did it on Tuesday, very good hair today and yesterday. I do that first, then condition afterwards.

I've been having a crappy hair week myself. Perhaps I should give this a try. Anyone know if the lemon fades color at all?

So for so good for my color. I make sure I don't do it for at least 2 weeks after coloring. This time I waited 3 weeks.

Baking soda scrubs are good for buildup on my hair.
If you try to remove buildup and your hair is still funky maybe it's a DT or a change in products you need?
It's changing weather and temps now so I know I had to change things up. I was getting lack of curl and fuzz. I tried removing buildup and finally just plain old shampooing but that didn't help so I changed up my product routine.

Good luck!
