BotticelliBrit & your baptism rinse!

I think this topic deserves it's own thread, because you are amazing! I tried the baptism rinse today, and omg my hair feels absolutely wonderful! I think I will definitely continue using this method. Everyone else should try it too!

THIS MAKES ME SO HAPPY <3 I'm SO glad you've had success with it too, Amy, especially since I know you've been having some hair woes lately Woo!

I can't take the credit though – it's something I first heard about in the CG handbook, so I suppose we have good ol' Lorraine to thank!

Yeah I know you didn't come up with it, but you're the only one I see constantly talking about it. If it weren't for you, I would have never tried it again. So thanks!

I don't know if it's the baptism rinse or the different jelly I used today, but I have SO MUCH more volume! And it feels really good, light, and above all else soft and moisturized (if that's the correctly term I'm looking for?).

Yes! I second this thread. I use the same amount of Sallys GVP conditioning balm as usual, and dont have to worry about a leave in (so I am saving a little $)...also, it makes my hard hold gel less crunchy, which was awesome.

But the most improvement was on the right side, which has less hair due to the part. Before it was hovering at 2b/c and now it is a solid 3a and it matches the rest of my hair. Loving it!!!

So the main benefits here are enhanced curl and better moisture retention? Am I getting that right? I can't remember, but I feel like I tried this when my hair was a lot longer and it got weighed down, so I'll have to try it again.

Now I am going to have to check out what a baptism rinse is and try it !!!!
Reading all these posts about how good it works I can't not check it out !!
Thanks All
I'm jealous of y'all…. conditioner as a leave in (whether baptismal rinse or true leave in) never work for me. But I'm really happy for you guys, that you are finding something that is both moisturizing and curl enhancing in the winter. That is great! My guess is doing the baptismal rinse (as opposed to leave in afterwards) improves the product distribution. Sort of the way raking and SS is helping me with more consistent curl pattern.

I did this tonight.

I was actually really careful and just washed my scalp (I'm one of those lather up every hair girls) then I baptism rinsed. I had clumps just stepping out of the shower!

I'm also a terrible manual handler, so I have a few new habits to learn

Ohh yeah, conditioner is distributed better too, because obviously you're applying it in the shower and making sure you get every single bit, and then just rinsing off the excess. But it totally helps with the gel too, because my hair has way more slip with the conditioner in and just . . . I don't know . . . it's easier, I guess.

When I just used standard leave-ins, I found when I was putting gel on I was missing spots and they'd frizz up once my hair was dry. Was a nightmare and no matter how much I tried, I always missed somewhere! Haven't had that problem since doing Baptism rinses, thank god. It was SO annoying!!

So when you're doing this, is there any way to make sure there's conditioner left only in the length but not at the roots? I usually put my rinse out conditioner on my canopy as well as the length, but I don't apply leave in up there.

Question for Botticellibrit! I see you like Jason Aloe Vera condish - have you tried the Sea Kelp? I have that and wondered if the effects were similar. Got a 32 oz bottle at Vitacost for 9 bucks so if I can get the same results, great! But am willing to get the Aloe Vera if it makes all the difference

I need to try this. My beauticurls is on it's last squeeze and I even added a little water to make this last squeeze. The last time I did a baptism rinse it was when I first read the cg handbook. I think I'm going to give it a whirl too with some Shea Moisture. I think it's also one of the reasons you don't care so much about glycerin. We've been having a lot of fog where I live lately and it makes sense in my mind that if I left conditioner in my hair not only would I be saving money but it's lile the conditioner would help with all of the moisture in the air when there is a lot and also with the lackof moisture when it is dry. Sounds like a win win to me. I am so glad this shout out thread was created.
I did something similiar to the baptism rinse with my last wash. I cowashed and used the beauticurls as my sole conditioner and then left it in after washing a little out but I wouldn't count it as a br because I cheated and used an actual leave in lol. Today is day 4 hair and I added some CJPP on dry hair and scrunched it through. The first ingredient in this is water and this might be a game changer because I almost have second day after a wash day style hair with this. I will see what happens and keep y'all posted.
