I would like others opinions on figuring out what type of hair I have. I have tried everything and can't find something I like enough. Am I suppose to use sulfate free shampoos, alcohol free products? All I know is when I brush my hair when its dry it gets really puffy. My hair gets very frizzy and dry and looks all over the place. I just need help and recommendations. I heard having my type of hair you should wrap a cotton tee shirt around it while wet. My hair is very thick and I avoid blow dryers. I attached some pictures here my hair just came out of the shower no product in it not brushed.

Well, seeing your pictures this is how my hair looks like wet sorta(just allot more thicker) So is your hair wet? I'm asking cuz you said "just came out of the shower" if so...I have no idea since hair usually dries up tighter...and if it's not wet; 2a, if you balance your moisture-protein/go CG method properly your curl pattern potentially MIGHT define more. Also it's normal for wavies or curlies to friz when you brush it dry so DO NOT BRUSH IT. Does not mean you shouldn't detangle your hair though. Personally, I like to detangle my hair before I go in the shower and I try to make brushing easier by applying conditioner/water and after I took a shower because if I don't my hair looks flat and sticky and...meh. I advice you to read the Curlygirl method by Lorraine, you can download it online somewhere or buy the book : D. And wrapping your hair with a cotton t shirt/towel is called plopping and it's really benefiting for allot of curlies, so definitely give it a try! Good luck!

Also, I dont detangle my hair with a brush, I do it with a wide toothed comb. It really works

Not all alcohols are bad for your hair. Conditioning alcohols are beneficial for your hair - like cetyl alcohol, stearyl alcohol. Other beneficial ingredients are penetrating oils (like olive, coconut, argan, grape seed) and panthenol.

A lot of here do the curly girl method with no sulfates and no silicones. Sulfates ultimately dry the hair out no matter how much you condition your hair. If you brush, you should only brush from the ends toward the roots with conditioner in your hair in the shower.

Drying with either microfiber or a t-shirt will prevent frizz.

If you figure out your hair's properties like porosity and width (coarse, medium, fine) you can look around the forum at people's signatures with similar hair properties to you and try some stuff out. That's where a lot of us started. If you are unsure of your hair properties, GoosefootPrints on Etsy gives a fantastic hair analysis and suggests types of products you should use.
