AG re:coil users, polyquat peeps & science geeks

Reading the ingredient label, (cause this stuff is awesome in my hair) I see it has polyquat-50 & polyquat-10.

I've read that polyquat-10 has a potential for buildup but does anyone know anything about polyquat-50?

I've been co-washing & when I first started, I was able to get 4+ day hair out of a wash. As the days go by, that seems to be decreasing to 3 and 2 day hair. It's been about 4 weeks since I started using re:coil.

I did notice a spider webby effect but I'm unsure if this is a buildup problem or if that's just what my hair does. Mainly because since I started co-washing, using re:coil and curl keeper (all started around the same time) my hair has done things it *never* did before....such as forming undeniable ringlets, and frizz where singular hairs at my crown curl up towards the sky.

I'm not sure if they're just shorter hairs that have separated from their other clumping buddies or what.

Reading that some polys are difficult to rid hair of, I'm wondering:

A. what do other re:coil users do as far as cleansing?

B. if you are a regular user, what is your experience in regards to +/- buildup?

On the other hand, are there any other obvious potentially troublesome ingredients in re:coil that I missed?

Thanks everyone for any input you can offer

Curl Keeper is full of poyquat and it made my hair horribly frizzy when I tried it long ago. AG Re:Coil isn't as bad. I don't think -50 poses a problem, but don't quote me on that. I did stop using Re:Coil after a while, because my hair was getting dry. I didn't know if it was the protein or the mag sulfate that was drying me out. I also had hard water at the time, so I shampooed. I've been contemplating going back to using and seeing how it does in soft water, since it seems I'm always in the need of protein and mag sulfate to form the curls I like. I cowash only now, so I'd be curious how my hair would react. I hate polyquats, but I love this product with a passion.

hmmm...it never occurred to me CK might be the issue because the poly is the last ingredient on the label. Maybe the glycerin was the culprit?

I'm very very (did I say very?) sensitive to mag sulfate, but since it's so low on the list of ingredients, I didn't realize how sensitive I might be.

I realize now that the frizz is dry crispy wisps of hair, felt the same way my hair did when I tried the homemade mag sulfate spray

Out of desperation, I gobbed on a ton of JCS condition & sculpt though I didn't see it before I applied it, low on the ingredient list is polyquat-11.

I applied specifically to the strands that looked like floss around my head & that helped somewhat.

Figuring I was just going to get in the shower (but running out of time) I decided to have one more go at it & add a bunch of Aloe vera 'gelly'.

Holy moly the curls Totally unprepared for this, I tossed my head back, applied liberally & diffused on cool for about 10 minutes.

About 15 minutes later, it dried enough to scrunch out the crunch. Now I have a whole HOST of additional questions that have nothing to do with polyquats....off to round up the aloe vera users Hair does not feel like it does when I apply conditioner, but doesn't really feel crisp-ety crunchy dry either.

Just as soon as I get done with doggie appointments today I'm going to wash all this stuff out and start fresh experiments

I use CK and re:coil together (layered), but not everyday. I do use CK daily with several other products. (I clarify weekly and I cannot cowash for more than a couple days, just for reference.)
