No conditioner/shampoo only routine??

A friend of mine surprised me recently when she revealed that she doesn't use conditioner on her hair at all. Only shampoo and then styles it with mousse afterwards.

Her hair is beautiful, healthy and very curly, I would guess her type to be 3b/c. This caught me off guard because I assumed that conditioner was an absolute MUST for our hair. I didn't believe her, until she unpacked her stuff (we were staying over at another friend's apartment). Surely enough, she had only brought a bottle of shampoo and mousse with her.

Has anyone tried a shampoo only routine as well? Or anything similar? What do you guys think?
how often does she wash her hair? maybe if it's like once a week ??? i find it hard that curly can go totally without a conditioner. her hair/products may be unique, but i don't think it's something all curlies can do.
and there may be silicones in her mousse that give her hair that look?
what are her products' ingredients?

I always use conditioner, but some people don't have to. Curly Penny on YouTube uses nothing except a prepoo and shampoo, so she can have a more voluminous, messy look. Different strokes for different folks

I wouldn't try it on myself because it tends to give volume and my hair is plenty voluminous as it is, but I've heard good things about the brand by those who use it. I agree that going without conditioner completely is probably not for everyone.

I was curious to see if others have tried her method as well. It just sounds almost like the opposite of typical curly hair care methods, most of which rely heavily on conditioning. xD
The main reason of curly hair is, when a follicle is asymmetrical, the hair that it produces is oval in shape and tends to curl. I used to think the best way to manage curly hair was to straighten it, and get rid of the big mess on my head. I also use conditioner for straightening.
