The Gibson Girl Plop

So I've been working on creating a new plopping technique and I wanted to get some feedback on it. I've already released it to the 2a wavies, but I'd like everyone to try it. It's simple and comfortable enough to wear to bed. It can also work as a quick refresher for second or third day hair. No hate please, just constructive criticism =) If you really help me to tweak this, I'll credit you when I officially make my tutorial!

The Gibson Girl Plopping technique or The Bundle of Joy

You will need: A hair scrunchie or a yoga hair tie, something that will hold your hair but won't cause breakage. You could also use an octopus hair clip.

Other optional items: A hairnet or wavenet, a satin sleep cap, bandanna, or microfiber turbie twist hair towel.

1. Apply all of your usual hair products. I used Hair One Dry (leave-in), Garnier Fructis Totally Twisted Gel, Marc Anthony Strictly Curls Curl Envy , and Moroccan Argan Oil.

2. Flip your head over and grab sections, as if you were scrunching, and pile the hair on top of your head. If it helps, grab all your hair as if you were pineappling and scrunch the whole pineapple down to the crown of your head.

3. Flip head back over grasping the hair bundle(s). Secure with hair scrunchie as loose as you can without your hair falling out of it.

Note - You'll notice that the finished product resembles the famous Gibson Girl hairstyle.

The bun may seem very loose but don't twist it into a ballerina bun or samurai bun if you can help it. The whole point of this is to do a concentrated version of the plopping method so the hair needs to be scrunched into shape on top of the head.

If you have longer or thicker hair it might help to do two buns instead of one (like Minnie Mouse or Princess Leia if you like).

I put a wavenet over my bun to keep in any loose ends, and I did sleep with a sleep cap in this hairstyle. If you choose to sleep in this style, I highly recommend using a sleep cap, bandanna, or turbie to ensure that the style stays in place while you sleep.

Feel free to blow dry hair or sit under a diffuser hood.

If you wish to try this on dry hair, spritz a little plain water or refreshing spray on your hair and scrunch a bit before gathering the hair for a bun. It took less than 10 minutes to revitalize my curls and waves. I recommend using an oil or hair serum on your hands as you gather hair to prevent frizzing.

I know this needs a lot of work, but try it out and tell me what you think. I really liked how my hair looked this morning, although it was a bit wet so I had to blow dry the bun. I have very thick hair. Thank you!

Sounds interesting! If I hadn't already done my hair for the night, I might give this a try, but I'll certainly give it a go tomorrow! I don't personally have any criticism/suggestions to offer (I might have some feedback to offer after I try though), but I do always love to see people trying new things!
