Is there a curl cream that provides strong hold or is it always necessary to follow up with a hard hold gel? Sorry if this question has been answered a million times before - I don't know how to do a search specifically for that.

If you must use a gel on top of your curl cream on high dew days is there any particular one you recommend? My gels do the job but they make my hair stiff and crispy, even with a leave in underneath. Dews in NYC are 75 today (moan).
2/c-3a Coarse hair med. density.
Protein sensitive but can use occasionally
Highly porous. Color over grey.
Best 1st day method: Ice Queen!
Stylers: Mix Curls in a Bottle into everything for shine. Terrible pj
Sometimes try roller sets or use a curling brush - classic glamor.
Every day is a gift
CP,

I've been using a gel that makes my hair super soft (not too soft). There's barely any crunch. It's Jäson hi shine flax seed gel. The bonus is it's relatively cheap (~$8-9 a tube). I don't need to add anything for hold.

Perri, thanks! That's just what I needed to know. Also, I've always wanted to try something with flax seed gel but I'm so astoundingly lazy (in certain ways) that I don't want to have to cook up a batch.

I think Tigi Curls Rock Amplifier fits that description. It can be a harder hold and it is a creamy product.
3a, Normal-high porosity, Medium texture, High density
Always looking for second, third, etc hair!
Curls 80, I've heard a lot about Tigi Curls Amplifier and it is used in a Youtube video that I like a lot. I'm glad you mentioned it. I really am going to have to break down and try it, and also probably will try Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie and maybe the gel mentioned in the first response.

I need a sugar daddy.

Hi Spider, I have been afraid to try AG Recoil because I've heard it has some sort of salt in it which is drying. My hair is dry from dyeing it so I don't want to worsen that, but thanks for the suggestion.

DevaCurl's Styling Cream is another cream that gives hold and definition.

I definitely can't use recoil often, myself.

Recoil contains magnesium sulphate, which is a curl enhancer. I dont find this drying at all, and also add it to my refresher spray (you will fnd it sold as Epsom Salts).

Im currently using Living Proof curl cream with a bit of their curl mousse over the top and find it has enough hold.

PerriP, I have the Jason gel and have not used it yet. Do you use it by itself? just the gel? what kind of curls do you have?
