Default What does being Deva trained stylist really mean

I mean what are there credentials and how did they get to be "deva trained" I wonder how extensive the training is?

I don't know how extensive, but I think it's pretty expensive!

ok it means a stylist has trained with lorraine Massey for one day, they take a class in pintura highlights, and are taught the cutting method, then they are observed and if they do well, recieve a certicate of completion and are placed on the list of devachan stylist.. I know this because I will be taking a class sometime in the near future.. You can bring your own model or one is supplied for you.. HTH

Keewee, you're already licensed? I didn't know that! Cool!

I'm not really sure how "trained" they are. There is a Deva trained stylist right near me, but she doesn't cut hair dry.

Default Robert Nieves at Devachan????

I live in Miami and have slightly wavy hair. I am going to be in NYC at the end of April visiting family. I made an appointment at Devachan at the 560 Broadway salon location. I asked for a stylist that is good with wavy hair and they put me with senior stylist Robert. I had to ask for his last name and the attendant did not know it. She got off the line and came back on and said it is Nieves (if I am spelling that right). At their prices, how do I know he is really good? Does anyone have a recommendation for particular Devachan stylists at that location who do wonders with slightly wavy hair?

That is awesome! I can't wait to hear how it goes for you and your impressions of the training.

Thanks for the Carlos recommendation. Do you know his last name? Do you know if any of his "satsified customers" are people with slightly wavy hair (because that's what I have)?

The Devachan salon often sends out a request for hair models, who spend the day (they are always Mondays) at the salon and get a free cut and highlighting as models for the training. You could contact the salon and see if they have an upcoming training with a need for hair models.

Several of our members have been models.

Thanks Suzen! I might do that - my friend has been a hair model before.

So they only get one day of training? I hope that's enough, I guess as long as it's a full day it should be.

Keewee, keep us posted on your training. Good luck and congrats!

I went to X'Poze One in Valencia (Santa Clarita). The stylist is Catherine Weber (661-255-8830).

I was thinking this morning I should take some pictures to post. I'll try this weekend.

I was really nervous about going but I'm so glad I went through with it.
