Pattern Pusha or UFDCM?

Ugh, I feel like I am running around in circles deciding which one I want to try. Since curl mart is having a sale I was planning on getting the protein treatment Curl Fix from curl junkie because I want a leave in with a good dose of protein but glycerin free. Now to decide on gel? I see a lot of curlies raving about UFDCM as it defines curls but what I don't like is that it has to be applied to soaking wet hair. Everytime I did that with KCCC, I would get defined hair but it felt weighted and the definition wouldn't last a day. It seems like with pattern pusha, there is some definition (based on reviews) but it defined for some and not for others while UFD defined the curls of most the curlies who tried it. Right now I am using curls in a bottle with BRHG and my hair is just okay. I want soft, defined, hair with volume! Lol it seems like I am constantly seeking the curly unicorn. So if you have tried both pattern pusha and UFDCM, I would love some input.

i've used both. UFDCM has agave as at the main ingredient and something about it does not agree with my hair. the first day was great, after that it was literally a hot mess. i swapped.

love pp, i can and do use it on wet or dry hair. it seems to work best for me after i have plopped for just a few minutes, then i rake in some pp. or, i can use it after my hair is almost dry or dry. it's not a hard hold gel but it certainly has more hold than ciab which i just use as a serum.

another thing i like about pp is that if i scrunch it into my hair it curls up and if i finger-comb it thru without following up with a scrunch it can elongate my curls.

i think it is entirely up to your hair. it's a personal choice.
Spiralli likes this.

Im just thrown off by the need to put it on soaking wet hair since that doesn't fair to well for me. I can order UFDCM from target so I think I will get the Pattern Pusha, while its on sale here on curl mart.

Have you tried the Curl Fix from CJ? My hair responds well to repair me and I am willing to take a chance on Curl Fix since CJ products are so moisturizing too.

i never tried the curl fix. my hair is medium texture, so it does need protein, just not a lot and not on a regular basis.. i feel with the repair me i can use as much or as little as i guess my hair needs and it has kept my hair happy.

i have thought about the curl fix, tho, and wish i was able to try it once or twice as so many get good results with it. if you try it, let me know how it works for you.

I wanted to love pattern Pusha so much!!! Unfortunately I just need more hold than it offers. Possibly it would hold better if I plopped before putting product in. Curl queen is much better for me personally, but I'm very porous and i just need more hold, and curl queen gives me that. . CCCL under curl queen gave me great hair on Friday, and it stayed good enough with refreshing that I haven't washed yet.

UFDCM I do really like, under a harder holding gel. It isn't enough on its own but it's actually harder holding for me than pattern Pusha.

To use it up I may try rbb's idea of using it on dry hair. Maybe I'll use it as a refresher! I really do like curl junkie products in general, such good quality.... So maybe I'll just experiment on different methods to use products.

Im porous as well and need a lot of hold but we will see how PP does. If I need more of a hold, I have the BRHG there.

Do you apply the UFDCM to soaking wet hair as directed? I get sad results when I apply to soaking wet hair.

I completely agree about the quality of CJ products. I absolutely loved CCCC in my hair during winter. My hair was soft regardless of how low the dews went. I intend on getting more CCCC next time curl mart has a big sale when its closer to fall.
