Default make my hair look wavy?

Does anyone know how I can get my curls to look more wavy and less spiral? I like to straighten every once in a while, I love my curls so I won't use chemicals, but I'd like to just be wavy every once in a while. TIA!

well one thing I tried that *kind of* worked, kind of not. it was a quick thing...

I have thick 3b hair, and I lightly went over LARGE sections once or twice with a flat iron on a medium temp. It took the spiral-ness out, but did not straighten. It was not as uniform as you are probably looking for, though.
But this is coming from hair that has to be passed over 5-6 times on the highest temp to straighten.
