Anyone use the B&A method of washing/application/styling

Just wondering, they have a video on their site that explains how the shampoo *twice* the entire head of hair, then brush out upside down, then put gel into hair and then scrunch with a towel and let air dry......anyone use or try this?

I am considering buying their entire line just to give it a try because their hair and all of the hair on their site where they use this method looks really good.

Oh that method sounds.... terrifying!

Shampooing... TWICE? ..and brushing!?!? and only using gel?? *hyperventilates* My hair would end up a stringy mess!

I've always been curious about no one ever talks about the B&A condnr, when the gel is a hall-of-famer... Maybe it's because few curlies seem to go the protein route, opting for moisture instead? Ouidad is similarly rarely spoken of anymore.

There were a few on here that really raved about the conditioner a while back, and I came close to ordering it myself until I read about one of the cones in it.

I've actually tried the wash-twice method but with Low-Poo or No-Poo. I can't say that I could tell any difference. But I'm surprised they would get bigger hair afterwards because those sulfates would definitely fluff up their hair, and the gel doesn't add any weight.

The shampoo twice thing is something I've heard of before... and it's supposed to be more than just getting you to use twice the amount of product.

The foaming action of the surfactant (soap or shampoo) is caused by the bonding of the soap to the water molecules, which stabilizes the water's surface tension and allows for the formation of bubbles. In shampoo terms, that can only happen when the shampoo hasn't bonded to anything else, such as the sebum or dirt in your hair. So, by lathering twice, the first go-round is for the shampoo to bond to the sebum and carry it away, and the second is uninterrupted by other factors and produces more foam, and lets the shampoo really do its job.

To me, that sounds like a bad thing for curlies! For hair that tends toward dryness, the second lathering seems like overkill. I suppose the second lather is to give the other beneficial ingredients a chance to penetrate. Maybe that's their logic. I do see panthenol, vitamin A, vitamin E, aloe vera, sweet almond oil, jojoba oil, and protein in the ingredients. But those things provide benefits that can be found in the conditioner, too... and without the drying sulfates.

Long winded! Sorry I rambled.

searching for products that work...
It sounds harsh to me too and my hair will probably revolt if I try it but if you watch the video and see the results they get.....very nice. I haven't made the leap and ordered the set yet but they did tell me that I could return their products for a return if I wasn't happy....I love the gel so I really don't have that much to lose.

Their hair does look good. Maybe like lush and someone else said, the sulfates rile up the hair so to speak and that's why it looks so big and full. I looked on their site but I couldn't find the video.

I have tried their conditioner and it was okay. I try to stay away from proteins and cones though so I decided not to use it anymore. Love the gel though!

Well, they sure make the hair look awesome in the video!! I wonder if their shampoo has sulfates? I thought it did but didn't see a full ingredient list on their site.

I wash my hair twice every few days now instead of clarifying. I get buildup with the protein-laden RHG that I've been using, and this seems to work for me...but it is annoying. It also seems much less drying than a clarifying shampoo can be because my hair doesn't feel stripped...but the gunk is out. *Knock on wood* it works.

I wouldn't splurge on the whole line...maybe follow the routine with substitute products that you may have at home.

There's no way my hair would look like that if I brushed it! While they're doing the demo, the girl's hair continued to look curly while she was running the brush through it. Mine would become stick straight (while it was wet, of course).

I'll be very curious to hear about how your experimenting turns out Chelle!

I routinely comb my hair after putting on the styling product, and it stays curly, even though I'm a 3a. I've tried brushing and it doesn't pull out the curl. Which surprised me.
I did their exact routine but not with their products.
I have unbelievable volume (I am a 2b) but less defined curls.
The curls are more spirally but not clumpy and best of all not stringy.
I may use this method more often.

Hmmm... I may try the routine, w/o their products soon. How strong of a shampoo do you think I should use, to make it close to doing the actual routine? If I used a strong poo 2x that would probably dry my hair out, but if I used a super gentle poo, I don't think that would have much effect on my hair...
