Curl Keeper - good alone?

Has anyone used this alone, with no gel? I see it has PVP near the top of the list, so just wondering if it has any hold on its own.
I have a bottle and I have never been able to figure out *what* it is, do I consider it a leave in or a gel or what? I dont' get horrid hair with it but don't know what it does for me....I have just had it under my sink for a year

2a?, using MOP C system hydrating poo, Elucence conditioner, B&A Biomineral gel......off and on results....rely most on my curling iron for help
Hi Chelle

The only time I can use CK is during the hot & humid summer. I sort of consider it my leave in, as I usually don't need one in the heat. It really controls the frizz & keeps my curls defined. I use about a quarter sized blob & comb it through with a wide tooth comb. I then let it set for a few minutes, then apply my gel (Biosilk Rock Hard Gel) by smoothing, then scrunching, then diffusing for a few minutes.

These two products are my HG summer items. I LOVE volume, but in the heat & humidity, my hair just seems to phloof out, then I lose all curl definition

Shampoo: Still use sulfates, but only on roots
Rinse out: Deva One C, JC Too Shea, Original Sprouts Deep Conditioner
Curl Enhancers: KCCC; JC Rocking Ringlets, JC Spiralicious, & Confident Coils
Styler: BRHG (over any and all curl enhancers) - this is the one product that I never change - absolute HG!!

I've used it alone. I had to use a lot and the result was okay - it definitely has hold (moderate I'd say) on its own. The result just wasn't good enough for me to justify continuing to use it that way since I'd go through it so fast. But then, I've never been a big fan of curlkeeper under other stuff either - maybe it's too dry here to need that extra frizz control. That's kind of why I tried to use it by itself - because I'd had a bottle for years and never used it so I figured I'd experiment with it. Anyway, there is a nc.com member with gorgeous hair who uses it by itself successfully (sorry, I can't remember who it is).

Ditto that I can only use it during the hot and humid weather of the summer. I'm sure those in warmer, and more humid climates can use it more regularly.

I can use it pretty much by itself. I do use a leave in like GF Leave in Cream over it b/c it helps cut down on the crunch and give more softness.

Please excuse any typos. For the time being, we are blaming it on my computer.
Thanks everyone! I just figured for a day that I was not concerned about super hold, it might do.
I could not use it alone. When I used enough to have some hold, it made my curls really stringy. Also, I don't think it's really cost effective for me to use alone. Works very well under a gel though.

I wish I could figure out how to make this work, since I've had 3/4 bottle under my sink for a year too..... I just don't seem to notice much difference. I definitely better frizz control just GF Leave in. And yet, I hate to toss it...

It is difficult to figure out how to use it; I did read somewhere that you apply it soaking wet & let it sit without touching anything for 10-15 minutes - not that I have that kind of time in the morning, but that is supposively how it should work.
