Default Why Clear Gel?

Hello!

So how come in the CG book it is recommended to use only gels that are clear, or at least I think it says clear. Why is Jessicurl CCSS opaque? Here's the ingredients:

Ingredients: Water, VP/VA Copolymer, Polyimide-1, C 12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Cetearyl Alcohol (and) Polysorbate 60; Jojoba Oil, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride (and) Dehydroxanthan Gum, Aloe Vera Powder, Magnesium Sulfate, Diazolidinyl Urea (and) Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Fragrance.

Is VP the same as PVP or are they different?

Thanks!

I think they were talking about brown-colored gels...The JCCC is not so much a gel as a holding cream. I love it.

The CG book says the dyes from colored gels can make your hair look dull. Personally, I have not found this the case, and I've used lots of variously colored gels. Maybe someone with very light blonde hair might have a problem, but I really don't think it's an issue for most of us.

The color of a gel is the least thing I worry about!

Ditto to both these statements!

Also, the gel I've been using for over a year is kind of peach-colored but it contains mica, so it leaves my hair shiny.

I have also used some gels with Mica. They are very sparkly in the bottle, but no, they don't make me look like I spilled glitter on my head or anything.

Nope, no glitter, just shiny, kind of like a wet look.
