Default Questions about layered hair

Hi Everyone!
I've been considering getting some layers cut into my hair to get rid of this triangle look I've got going and was hoping those of you with layers could help me out.
I know I'm supposed to get long layers but am not sure exactly what that means in terms of distance between layers. How much distance should there be between layers? Also how many tiers of layers should I get if that makes any sense? Will layers add volume because I already have a lot of natural volume and am not looking for more just some shape is what I need.
My hair is 3b/c and lengthwise it's half the way down to my bra strap.
I would like to keep it shoulder length or longer.
Thanks in advance!
3b/c fine, thick, porous, protein sensitive

I would look for someone who is specifically trained in curly hair to do the layers for you. My hair is 3b and a to my bra-strap when stretched. I have mostly long layers and my hair is shaped so that it does not have that triangle look. I have a devacut, so my layers aren't like full layers but rather different layers in different places.
3B with some 3a. Fell off but am now back on the CG bandwagon and looking for my HG products.
