Default Clips

Is anyone willing to post a photo of how they clip their hair to get some volume at the roots? Also - do you leave them in until hair is dry? If so - I don't think I can do that b/c I'm fairly sure I don't want to go to work with clips in my hair. (Smile)

I dont leave them until dry - I probably leave in for about 15-20 minutes - until I diffuse. I use the small jaw clips and just grab areas that look flat on the top of my head. I will let others post pics

Too funny ladies. I just have no idea how to use clips! I betcha you'll be helping out all kinds of curlies if you post. Also - to get all the questions out of the way - does size matter? Clip size that is. lol. And do they have to be metal?

I use the small jaw clips (I think that is what they are called) they are about 1/2 wide and have the teeth on each side. I just place them on the top of my head where I think I need the lift. I will sometimes use the metal ones after I have diffused to kind of hold my hair while it finishes drying - that way hopefully it will dry that way - one can hope!

I will post my photo right after you post yours - honest

I use the tiny claw clips. too. I think it's the smallest size available. I just open them up and grab chunks of hair on the crown, I especially love them because I can close up my part / cowlick in the back so it doesn't look like I have a bald spot. I had to experiment a little, but now I never leave home without them.

I use this size of claw clips too. I put two of them along my part to bring the hair on each side together for some lift. My stylist showed me this -- I could never get the hang of using the metal clips like they do at Devachan.

I don't have pics. But I have been know to forget the darn things and go out in public looking like a dork with clips in my hair...

I also vote for claw clips. Mine aren't super tiny. They are are one inch wide and they are all "hair" colored. I do a messy zig-zag part first. And then I place 3 clips along each side very messily. Then I scrunch all around the clips once they are in place. It look sort of messy-casual but I can go out like that and when my hair dries I take em out and scrunch again.

I am thinking of doing a bit of diffusing with the clips in sometime. I usually leave them in for about 15-20 minutes then I take them out and diffuse but I am thinking if I leave them and diffuse I might even have less issues with the dreaded 'bald' spots!!!!

Thank you so much! I didn't laugh, either. Except for at your "I feel bald" comment.

My clips are metal like curlyclaudias clips but they are the salon short ones and are not pionty at the ends , more like straight. . i love them cuz they fit perfectly and grab just the right amount of hair but stay put when i diffuse ( got them at sallys for real cheap package ).. sometimes i diffuse halfway then put in my clips , and either finish diffusing or air dry the rest.. lately its just two at the front of my hairline when it starts to part so that when it drys my part stays up outta my eyes . they are so comphy and stay put that i sometimes forget they are still in my hair, thank god i dont go anywhere in the morning

sorry to guano , but curlyclaudia are you from Colombia?, i just noticed your password so that's why i'm wondering.

Thanks curlyclaudia for the pics i really can't get the clips to work for me, but i also think that it's also due to my haircut, i can't find anybody i trust in this town to cut my hair so i always just get a trim and not a real cut so it's really hard to get some volume at the roots

Guano means to depart from the subject of the thread. After 9/11, the board decided to use it to replace "hijack."

guanoing again curlyclaudia where were you born? i was born in Pereira, lived there until i was 11 and i've ibeen in the US since then (i'm 20 now).
I love Colombia too, i was there last year and it was so sad that everybody there hates their curls , my own family insisted on me straigtening it while i was there i was like "NO! do you have any idea the kind of damage it does to you hair" I was there for a little more than a week and i seriously think that i was the only person that wore curly hair intentionally

anyways great meeting a fellow paisana, maybe one day more Colombians will love their curls like us (ok at leas try to love them )
