Pure Envy

I took the photo of a pic from a JCPenney's ad on Glamour magazine from April 2007...God, I love her curls and her haircut is exactly what I'd love to have! I wish my hair looked like hers!

It's very nice, do you have a similar curl type to hers? Maybe if your hair is long enough you can take that picture to a good stylist and get her/him to cut your hair just like it...

Hmmm...I don't really know if I have the same hair type. It looks as if mine was curlier and clumpier - on the ends, particulary, so I always break the curls apart when they are dry - or maybe the fact that I don't have a professional haircut makes my hair look different to hers. I'm not very good at "typing" hair.
This is my hair, btw.:

Talk about hair envy! Now I have it -- YOUR hair is absolutely gorgeous!!! What is your routine/products? I would love to have hair like yours
pw: curls
3b/a
Cowash - No Poo, Suave Coconut
Conditioner - One Condition
Leave In - KCKT
Gel - KCCC at the moment
Yes YOUR hair is so pretty. I think you could have that haircut, just have to find someone who knows what they are doing, to cut it
I too loved the size of your curls and the clumping, in the updo pic your curls look great! But your hair looks mostly all one length which could be "weighing" it down, the model definitely has shorter layers and she probably also had her hair "manipulated" to make it look thicker for the photo shoot, but with the right products and cut you could get more volume so I say GO FOR IT!

Your curls are breathtaking! Actually, the model's hair is what I get if I've been sick and haven't washed my hair for a few days, so everything's relative

You get spiral curls like the model's at the ends of your hair. I think if you got a bouncier, layered cut, you could coax out more of those spirals. You'll get more volume on top, too. You can also get more volume by plopping, diffusing, and/or using L'oreal Out of Bed. Also, while your hair is very wet, get your fingers into the roots of your hair, turn upside-down, and fluff it out for three or four shakes. That should help to break up the curl, add volume, and give it that untouched look. Using less product will help, too. You can also get more volume and frothier curls by lightening your hair very slightly. The ammonia in the bleach will damage your hair, roughing up the cuticle and giving it more volume. Of course, this is a risk since it's permanent and might make your beautiful hair noticeably damaged. Maybe getting some subtle, woven highlights would do it?

A layered haircut is key, though. This is very different from the kind of layers a straight-haired woman will get. Unless your hair is damaged, you can probably keep it the same basic length. But I would suggest having them cut your hair into a U shape instead of straight across at the bottom, along with another, slightly shorter layer all around. The shortest layer should be at the front, framing your face and just grazing your shoulders. (Yes, this is my haircut ) You really need to think about how cutting 1 wet inch will affect the length of your dry hair, and make sure that your stylist understand that your hair will be a lot shorter when it's dry. Try to get advice from another curly-haired friend, since a lot of stylists say they "know curly hair" but wind up cutting it too short, in my experience.

Let us know how it goes!

I'm sorry it took me ages to reply! Thanks so much for the compliments! What I envy the most about the model is the way her curls look fresh and airy! Almost as if you could almost get a whift of her parfume! LOL! I also love her haircut. I know mine could afford having it, but the thing is I can't cut it myself, and I don't really dare going to a hairdresser's over here where most people die for straight hair! They don't even know how to cut it! There's tons of curlies out and about with straight hair haircuts! It's so silly to see many teens with a thousand bobby pins holding tiny little curls in place!
As for my routine...well, there's not much to it. I get in the shower, wet my hair and apply a conditioner. I use one sold over here. It's called "Vegetable Sap Conditioner"

and it's components are:

I comb with a wide-tooth comb through, once it's smooth, I put a bit of the same conditioner on my hand and add some drops of Sweet Almond Oil. Leave it on for two minutes or less, rinse.
Then I put a tiny amount of Herbal Essences. This one:

I leave it in for a bit and then rinse. I love it, it makes my hair feel really smooth!
The next step is applying leave-in products upside down (I didnt use to do it like that, but I found it works better for me). I smooth plenty of Pantene Pro V leave-in (I don't know if anything like it is available anywhere else but here in Argentina) This one:

Ingredients:

And then, still upside down, I apply some serum. I don't mind if it goes a but crunchy when dry, because I can just scrunch the crunch when it's completely dry.

Ingredients: Cyclopentasiloxane , Dimethicone , Dimethiconol , Citrus Aurantifolia Fruit Extract Key Lime , Citrus Grandis Fruit Extract Grapefruit , Citrus Nobilis Fruit Extract Mandarin Orange , Panthenol , Pyridoxine Dipalmitate , Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein PG-Propyl Silanetriol , Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate , Fragrance Parfum , Limonene

I plop for 30 mins and air dry. That's my routine. Sorry for the image overload! I just didn't know how to explain the products I use, I can't get the ones you all use, so I find whatever works for me here and go for it.

I don't like her hair at all. It looks like she's been standing out in the wind too long.

I like yours a LOT better, Jorgelina!
