Need some plopping help

I've watched Jessicurl's video over and over, I've read the article here and I'm STILL having issues. I can't seem to get the sides of my hair to stay out of the twists. I tried what another poster suggested and put the sides to the back of my head and it didn't work either. Any tips? Here's what it looked like this morning. Promise not to laugh at my ugly-no-makeup-got-the-flu face 'k??

it looks right to me. Maybe try a long sleeved cotton t-shirt, those work better for me.
My hair is a mix of 2b/3a and even a bit of 3b thrown in! I would call my hair wavycelli. It curls most when I leave it alone after wet scrunching. My hair has a spring factor of about 2 or 3 inches and has a very silky, medium texture.
Oh, I see what you're saying now. I was having a similar problem, but then I started lowering my head (with hair scrunched up accordian-like on top of my head) onto the middle of the towel instead of so close to the edge. Then I bring the sides down close to my face before I start twisting. When I stand up, the towel ends up over my whole forehead, pratically in my eyes, but then I just gently pull it up to my hairline and then use an elastic band to hold the back together. All my hair is completely tucked up inside the towel this way. Hope that makes sense and helps a little. It did take me quite a few times before I got it right.

I hoped plopping would work for my hair, but it really makes it frizzier than without plopping. Has anyone else found this to be true sometimes? And it seems like my hair gets too much product that doesn't do its job as well when I plop. Even when I put some product, plop, then apply just a little more product to combat the frizz, it just looks bad. I use a Curl-Ease towel as a turban now, and it works better. I guess I might not be a plopper girl afterall. Maybe I'm doing something wrong??
I can only plop for a little while or else the canopy of my hair gets flat and funny looking. Lately, I've been using my plop shirt to scrunch up the curls, then apply make-up, get dressed, feed the little one then blow dry w/diffuser til 75% dry (5-10 minutes). After, I'll plop the back of my head up against a pillow with my curls all pulled up on top of my head and have breakast, watch a little Blue's clues for a few minutes. This method of plop gives me volume and boosts curls, the longer I can stay prone in the position propped up against a pillow the better the curls.

I tried something different this week and I ended up with the curliest hair I've ever had. I had the best hair day with this. After getting out of the shower and scrunching with a MF towel, I combed through a dab of Re:Coil with a shower detangler comb (after reading the B&A method thread, I'm going to get a Denman brush this weekend and try brushing it through next time), scrunched really well again with a MF towel and then plopped just long enough to moisturize and brush my teeth -- probably about 10 minutes. Plopped mainly just to keep the hair out of my face while I did all this. Then took my hair out of the towel and smoothed on & then scrunched in gel and scrunched again really well with MF towel, plopped again until I put on make-up, got dressed, piddled around, etc. (about 20-30 minutes). When I took the towel off, even the top of my head looked like it had snakes coming out of it there was so much curl. So even with shorter layers growing out on top, I got volume and curls. I diffused for about 5-10 minutes and had great curls and volume; even had 2nd day hair which is unusual for me. My hair seems to like the extra scrunching and the double plopping. I plop exactly like it's done in the Jessicurl video.
