Jessicurl gone mouldy

I opened up my Jessicurl Too Shea! and found a bit black spot right in the middle of it. It didn't smell bad but the black spot definately looked like mould. It was on the lid as well and was slightly pink tinged.

I've had the Too Shea for about 9 months and I know that's a long time. And believe me, I'd much rather Jess kept preservatives and nasty chemicals out of her products than stop them going mouldy after a while.

I just wondered if anyone else has experienced their products going 'off'?

Also I know the Too Shea is in a bit tub so it's kinda hard not to get it contaminated with water as even if I use a scoop, water kinda drips in off my wet hair and face!

Does anyone know the average shelf life of jessicurl products/ conditioners? Does this seem normal for the conditioner to go after a while? Or has it been contaminated?

I'm not too sure but I've read on this board that she is pretty quick to return emails. So I would email her directly on this one...

I'd email her.
I dont' keep my JC stuff in the shower, but on the counter and on the counter in the bathroom it lasted a couple of years for me. I forgot I had it and went back to it and it was fine.
Now in the shower, in our humid state and my tiny closed shower.... no telling how long till mould.
Still that's weird since it must have preservatives in it.

I bet she'll fix you right up though!

I keep mine in my bedroom and only ever take it into the bathroom when i'm washing my hair, so it's been humid and moisture free! I've got a big box of all my products at the bottom of my wardrobe so they all last as long as possible :)

I've emailed her so just waiting to hear back. It does look like contamination though as it was one spot right in the middle rather than growing all over. Grrr.... My hair so needed the moisture too! i just used extra aloeba...

When I've kept my Jessicurl tub in the shower, I've had it get black stuff under the crease of the lid. Where the grooves are to screw the lid back on. I don't keep it in there in a tub for that reason anymore. That's what it sounds like to me is just a bit of that stuff.

Let us know what she says. :)

I had the same thing with a WDT- it was there right when I got it from CurlMart. Email Jessicurl- I'll bet they'll replace it for you. On the site, she says they'll stay good 2 years unopened & 1 year opened as long as you keep water out of it. Now, with the tubs TS & WDT come in, it's impossible to keep water out of them so I don't know what they'll say about it. It's worth a shot though. Let us know how it works out.

Personally I think tubs are a ridiculous packaging choice for hair products that are meant to be used in the shower, so I've been pumping my TS gallon into a squeeze bottle. Keeps the water out & the tub from slipping & breaking my toes.
