Default Linalool, citronellal

So.....anyone have issues with these ingredients?

Apparently they really irritate my skin, especially the hydroxycitronellal. It took some detective work, but I compared the ingredients of 2 products that have been giving me contact dermatatis (both CG friendly!) with products that don't cause irritation, and finally isolated these 2 culprits.

And doesn't it just figure that I really like the products.

I've been seeing linalool in more and more hair products, I think both these ingreds are used as a fragrance?

Shoot.

In my cosmetics dictionary, both of those are listed as causing allergies. Both are also listed as fragrance additives. Oddly enough, the Linalool is also listed as being used in food flavorings such as blueberry, chocolate, and lemon. The lemon I get, but not the other 2!

I don't have a problem (yet) with these 2 ingredients, but I feel your pain. I fell in love with CO Bigelow's Lemon body lotion last year, only to end up with a horrible rash after using it for a few weeks. Those citrus based ingredients can be a real problem.

You have a cosmetics dictionary! I am totally jealous! Wait. This is going on my birthday list!

Thanks for the info. Hmmm. What is weird is that it only seems to give me a rash when I'm in the sun or the temperatures are warming. Then I get the red bumps & itching & burning. But the darn rash doesn't go away, I'm stuck with it for at least a week, so it's not worth it.

I've seen these in a lot of natural lines, especially the linalool because it's primarily essential oils, right? Argh it's so frustrating!
