Default Addicted to products?????

OK...I think I really am starting to have an addiction or something...and not YET to actual styling stuff (gels, etc)..but conditioners.

I started with Creme of Nature and for something being OTC, I thought it was pretty thick and awesome. But then...I thought it was "too much" for my hair and weighed it down....so I went for VO5 Tea something or other. Hey....for 99cents, I can do that ESP being CG friendly. But yikes...that stuff is like WATER!!! However, it did my hair just fine..just have to use more of that than the CON.

Well...ok...so I was content at the moment, right?? Yep....but I had to do some shopping today and BACK down the stinkin' conditioner/poo aisle I went.

WHY!!!!!! I don't KNOWWWWW why. Just compulsive. I dont' need any. I've got CON left...the VO5...plenty! But I STILL found myself reading the backs of these stupid bottles. STUPID!

And I did it. I bought another conditioner. UGHHHHH. Nature's Gate. I thought I read someone on here that uses it so it did caught my eye...and caught the $7 extra in my pocket. GRRR.

Is it just me or is there anyone that really isn't 'content' even though they think they are???? LOL!

Teehee.... repeat after me: Hi, I'm carrie640, and I am a PJ.

The good news: it will get better once you find products that work for you. The bad news: it will probably get worse before it gets better. I think all of us on this site went through this at one point.

Yesssssss we are in exactly the same bpoat. I buy at least 2 bottles of condish a week, almost religiously. And I get way too excited @ the idea of going to the drugstore (don't even think the words wal-mart or target!)

But hey, we could be addicted to worse things!

I have been a PJ since I was a teen (I am now 34) and I do not see any end in sight. CG just gave my junky a new direction... . BUT I am glad because although I have been a label reader forever, I never thought that any of the crap I put on my hair was the reason it was so CRAPPY. Go figure. Now that I am aware of the ingredients in prods and know the effect they produce, I can steer clear of the undesired prods thus making my PJ more selective. So I still try new prods, however I spend more wisely...IN THEORY.....I am still relatively new to CG and I have a backstock of condish and assorted preferred styling prods, I do this on a Big Lots budget. To give you an idea...I just bought 2 White Rain Sunflower Essense Condish for $.33 ea. I bought my Nature's Gate stock there also...for $1.5ea. Etc etc...
But to answer the original question.....Hello, my name is Echokitten and I am a PJ...... it never ends.

It settles for a while, at least for me but then I got addicted to bpal and that's another story altogether

When my hair looks bad I scramble for products like crazy and when it looks good I just keep using what I have that I know works. So every change of season I buy more things.

This change of season I had to get a shampoo and three different gels. Ah well at least I have a conditioner that works.

Those Nature's gates are pretty good, that I've tried so far anyway.

OK, well mine settled down anyway. I used to be completely unable to make a trip to target or walmart without buying a hair product. I mean it... EVERY trip. Now I can make it out safely about 95% of the time.

OMG--I hear you!!

Just today, as I was adding at least 5 new products I purchased this week (which I've never even tried before!) from the swap boards, I looked inside the bathroom closet and thought...this shelf is gonna break...

I'm not kidding!

So it ends???

I agree that the PJ goes through phases. My PJ may have lay dormant for awhile, but now it's back--stronger than before!!

I don't think PJism ever actually ends per se, but I agree that it does die down at times-for me it cycles. Now that I sort of know what I need, want, should have, I settle down for awhile. Then I get bored, and I read about all of the fabulous results others are getting with these new, exciting products, I just have to get me some of that. You cheat on the reliable ones that stood beside you long term and also on the ones that just gave you that one night of fabulous hair that you'll never forget, but you practically had to beg for it to happen again....and then, after the deed is done, well, you just feel guilty and end up going back, but who knows if the relationship with the tried and true will ever be the same.....what was this thread about again?

Are you sure you're still talking about hair products?

It'll never end for me with rinse-out conditioners because it's fun to try new ones. There are so many "old" ones I haven't tried, new ones always coming out & so little time!

Welcome to the world of the PJ. I found a perfect conditioner for my hair and I an longer need or want to buy other conditioners. I still look at them though. Went through the same thing with stylers; and leave-ins and deep treatments (I think I'm still on that one). Now I'm on a quest to find the perfect oils. Bought some murumuru butter off eBay and tamanu oil from Mountain Rose Herbs. Gnashed my teeth in frustration when tucumu butter was sold out at New Directions Aromatics.

I'm finally heading out the tunnel of my long PJ existence. Took me a while to find products that worked for me. You don't even want to know how much stuff I have in various spots that need to be used up for either just co washes or shaving..LOL

My prob was finding a condish that was moisturizing enough for my hair on a consistant basis. Factor in all the changes companies have made in their product lines..well..let's just say it didn't help. Not to mention the fact I wanted to find more than one working combo just in case my ole reliables disappear off of the shelves.

Anyway, I use to be the one who walked down the hair aisle and scoped out every bottle of gel and condish there was. It passes with time.
