Default Would this be possible for bangs?

I'm wondering if it would be possible to cut bangs in such a way that they could be worn sideswept when straight/slightly wavy, or as face-framing curls when worn curly.

My hair is 3A/wavy, and curls more when it's shorter. When I had face-framing curls before, they definitely curled naturally not waved.

I'm going in for a trim on Saturday, but I'm sort of tempted to try something different (without losing overall length). I'm sure I'll chicken out, but I figure I should weigh all my options.

Thanks for the tip! I love her hair in the last pic of the September 2006 album. I wonder if bangs like that would look that good on longer hair like mine? Also, I didn't see any pics of her bangs curly. I know I won't have the time/motivation to straighten them every day if I get some.

No probs, they look great don't they?

I had bangs cut last summer with the intention of straightening them and keeping the rest curly, and I hate them. They are now chin length and I'm trying to grow them out. They curl weird and I cant be bothered to straighten everyday, plus if they get wet they curl up

This is what I'm worried about, getting them and hating them. The face-framing curls I had before were pretty cute and not difficult to style.

I'm sure I'll chicken out and end up not doing anything. Thanks for the replies!

I haven't seen Luvjoy's bang pictures but I can say that when I had bangs, they were a nightmare. They curled up in individual spirals and looked like snakes hanging from my forehead. As you can probably guess, they weren't too attractive. I am too lazy to straighten, too. I just purchased a hair dryer for the first time a little over a year ago!

I have bangs. I wear them sometimes sideswept or face framing when curly. I love them. Sometime I sort of part them in the middle. The trick is not to get them to short. And to me they are not a hastle to straighten them with a flat iron or even somewhat with a curling iron. It only takes a minute. I've tried growing them out but I like myself much more with them.

Just got back from my haircut a little while ago and decided to skip the bangs this time.

Moosemarcy, I'd love to see pics of your bangs, for future reference. Especially if you have pics of them both sideswept and curly.

PixieCurl, sorry I do not have any pictures. We haven't taken them in a long time. I'm kind of picture shy. Weird, I know. Ha. My hair I always thought was curly, like a 2a or something like that. But when I quit using sulfates my hair is now just wavy. So I either straighten it or using a 1 inch curling iron to finish it off. So I either straighten my bangs or use a curling iron to make it match the rest of my hair. They are not long sideswept bangs, some is still left on my forehead when they are straight. Hope that helps. I think you would like them. What kind of hair do you have? And have you ever had bangs? I got them about ten years ago and have never really wanted to go back to not having them.

My hair is 3A/wavy. Thick and coarse. A few inches above bra-strap length and layered.

I haven't had bangs in a looooooong time - since high school, and then, I straightened them. They were typical across-the-forehead bangs. Around a year and a half ago, I had some face-framing curls cut, but they weren't really what I would call bangs.

If I did do bangs again, I'd wear them straight and sideswept when I straighten my hair or loosen it to wavy, and otherwise I'd wear them curly.

Well, I know you've already been and skipped the bangs, but if I had seen this earlier I would have said 'Don't do it!!!'. When mine ever finish growing out, I will never, ever cut them again. They just curl very weird at this point, so I have to smooth them out and I still end up wearing a headband or tiny barrettes most of the time.

You should try to keep them long enough to be pulled back because curls that frame the face can get soooo annoying (like if youre sick or something), but side bangs always look good...definitely dont get it cut too short, especially not full frontal bangs because those look terrible on everyone
