Im new here so if im posting in the wrong spot, I apoligize to the Mod....

In my "neck of the woods" not one person I know has curly hair. my hair type is a 3A .. Our area makes curls...unacceptable and unpopular.. all of the "popular" girls have pin straight hair. Usually I straighten my hair everynight. but now im sick of it.. is there any way to tone down the frizz and add a more define curl???

No. Although there are a lot of hispanic and native american people here with straight hair, curls are not unacceptable. :)

no one in my area has said "I hate curls" to my face. Actually I think it's the younger years that trains you to hate your own curls because you can't make them behave... Until you learn, friends and family will always say "you'll love them when you get older..." And then when you finally do love your curls, everyone is jealous of them (the straighties) and wish they could get their hair to "curl like that".

It seems to be the younger you are--the straighter you may want your hair. Ya know, the Barbie wanna-be's

Sadly, yes. I live in an area where there are just entirely too many bleached blonde, flat-ironed locals around here. I interviewed stylists when I came down here, and I can't tell you how many were trying to see me on the permanent Chi straightening system.

I can't believe all these wavies and curlies straighten their hair down here with the heat and humidity, but (from their dark roots) it looks like many of them are bleached blondes and probably their hair is so damaged that their curls are un-boingy.

I live in Centraltexas. I went up to Dallas about 2 weeks ago and I realized how many woman wear there hair curly up ther . It was amazing.
We were sitting in this restaourant and I told my BF, look at all the curlies here. Down here people are in straightening denial. Actually in Austin itself are more curlies,too. :)

MY FRIEND TOLD ME THAT SHE WANTED MY HAIR!!!! Can you believe it? im soo happy lol! someones actually jealous of my hair! :D :D :D

I live in Houston. There's a lot more straight hair in the last couple of years than there used to be, but there are still a fair number of curlies and wavies.
