Default Hairgrowth and your Goals

Hello,
I just wanted to get this off my heart.
My Goal are BSL long 3c's. My hair is a little longer than shoulderlength curly and it seems as if I was stuck at this length forever!
When I look at the beginning of my journey I am amazed. October 2004 I grew out my pixie hair cut (with 3c hair) to shoulder length in one year and one month! Now it seems to grow so slow.
Can it be that it looks so short because my hair is still short enough to have the *power* to shrink up?.
Could it be that in a year or so my hair will suddenly be to heavy and will pull down ,looking like it grew fast?
Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

Thanks for reading

::raising hind wildly:: .. I do!

The only way I ever see any length progress is to take pictures and compare. Mine seems to grow at a snail's pace also. I have mine cut in an V-angle and although the back is longer than the front, the front never seems to grow and just skims my shoulders. Now, when it's wet, it is SO long. But it shrinks a good 3-5 inches. I wish I knew about it all of a sudden being heavy enough to be weighed down at some point in time. If so, I wish it'd hurry! I'm a bit older and struggle a little with the age/hair length thing already .

I 2nd the hair length/age thing myself. I have decided I am going to try and get 2-3 more inches and see what that does. If I am still struggling with my hair (I know I will always struggle a bit with curly hair but I am just trying to have more good days than bad) I am probably going to go back short. I think with my hair once it gets to almost shoulder length any growth comes at a snails pace.

I know exactly what you are talking about. I rollerset my hair every 3months just to see if it growing and to trim the ends. My hair coils so tightly on the ends and much loser at the roots and middle, making it difficult to see new growth.

I have been looking into taking some suppliments. On the Long Hair Community forum they mention alot of vitamins you can take to help hair growth. I just think it's too much for me, I have enough trouble swallowing one pill far less 5 or 6. I think I am going to try a single suppliment from GNC promising to improve hair and skin.

I LOVE your new hair website ...FABulous

Great website. You and your hair are both gorgeous.

My hair is 3B but still shrinks up alot and I know what you're saying about length and weight.
I chopped my hair off to above chin length a couple years ago to get rid of the henna'd hair and let my grey hair grow in. I kept it trimmed up to that same length for about a year until all the old dye was gone. Then I started only trimming it to keep it's shape.
It seemed forever before I noticed any real growth. It just seemed to shrink as much as it grew! But just the other day I noticed it actually was below my shoulders in the back after it was dry. Yay!
You can see the slow but steady progress from 2-06 to 3-07 in my Fotki.

You have lovely hair and I love your website!

I know exactly what you are talking about. For
the first 2 years, I was frustrated because of the
shrinkage. Now that I have length it is starting to
fall down my back. I have also noticed that it's not
as curly as when it was short.

I've decided to try and get another 3 inches on my hair - at the moment it's just past my shoulders at the back and a couple of inches shorter at the front. I'm determined not to even have a trim until Sept, I went for one last week and told my hairdresser I wanted to grow it a bit longer and she said "just the very ends off then" and proceeded to cut at least an inch off (noticeable when my hair was wet in the shower the next day). I know my hair grows reasonably quickly (unfortunately have grey roots as proof!) but it seems to take forever to actually get any longer. I presume this is due to the shrinkage factor, very frustrating. I'm another who struggles with the age thing, but I know my hair sits and looks better longer so I'm determined to give it a go.

I can understand ya!

I keep thinking that my hair isn't growing much until I look at pics. I also got stuck in a slow growth appearance at shoulder length and again at BSL.

It's hard because it seems that our hair hair has to grow three inches wet to get one dry inch of growth. I'm a little below BSL wet, but am anywhere from BSL to mid-shoulder blades dry, depending on shrinkage. It's so weird and unpredictable.

I really love your hairblog. It's well put together and has great pics. You have very pretty hair.
