Default Diffusing Help - getting hair to go back off face?

I really want my hair to go back - kinda without a part. I hope that makes sense. So the past two times diffusing I have leaned my head back after diffusing upside down for a bit to try and 'set' my hair that way. It's working OK but other than having someone come over and diffuse my hair while I am in a chair leaning back - any other ideas on how to get this done? Maybe lying on my bed??

I actually brought my office chair in the bathroom this morning and reclined it and locked it in - it really didnt help much - thank goodness because if I started having to do that I think I would no longer have a boyfriend

Have you tried using clips on the top? That might help.

I put a skinny headband in my hair as soon as I take it out of my plopping towel. Then I diffuse everything except the top, ie the long part. I personally have bangs because I hate my forehead so I pull the bangs out first.

I do have to say that I have learned a much better way to diffuse from this site. Now I put the hair in the bowl by leaning over and raising the bowl to meet my hair pushing it up to my head and THEN turn on the dryer.

Anyway, after I get the long part dryish, I difuse the bangs and around the headband. This headband method works great for me and I have been doing that part for years. I used to cut my hair so that it was shorter around my face because I just could not take it 'closing in around me' but that pretty much gave me a mullet!! It was not a pretty sight.

I have never posted except for questions. I hope this helps you.

Suzen - I do use clips after I diffuse and they do help - I wonder if I used them while diffusing.....

txtripmom - it's funny you mention the headband because I have done that and it helps but I end up with the section closer to my forehead and on the sides a bit straighter becuase the headband pulls it a bit straight if you know what I mean. I have tried to move the headband forward a bit but I may experiment with that as well.

Thank you both!

I use clips while diffusing. I would recommend trying that.

Mine is a bit straighter but not totally straight because my headbands are not really tight AND remember I have curly, curly bangs which help with the fill in. If I ever have a great hair day and a camera at the same time.......

I no longer have bangs (I did accomplish growing those out) but with my hair being fine my curls get pulled out very easily. I have never diffused with the headband or clips in so that will be the next experiment!

I've started lightly combing JUST the top when it's wet and full of gel into position the way I want it. I put the diffuser fingers right on top and hold it until the gel sets, pushing the diffuser fingers a little to lift it a little bit. Then I finish diffusing and clip, letting it air dry rest of the way. Right before I leave the house, I'll hold the diffuser over the top for a couple minutes and then remove the clips. Has been working great. I scrunch it right after I comb it to keep it from going so straight. I would think since your hair is thinner and finer, you would want to get it set while it's really wet. Hope this helps some.

i diffuse halfway dry , then i put in my clips to where it holds the part the way i want it to. then diffuse a lil more , air dry the rest , and take out the clips when dry , i usually just use two clips at the hair line to keep my hair out of my eyes and get a lil good part going. HTH!

Mine does that. I always dry with a diffuser with my head upside-down. Then flick back and voila!

Mind you...I fancy a parting but I have a tough job getting it right! Swap ya!
