New haircut, and new tips!

So, last Thursday I got my haircut by the great Anne Marie. I love it! It's shorter and I have a lot more curl/wave definition. You guys can take a look at the results in my fotki.

She had just gotten back from Devachan, and she gave me a few tips that I wanted to pass along. She says that while she is rinsing her hair in the shower, she scrunches her hair like she's adding products. The idea is to not let your hair straighten while it's being rinsed. Since I have such a loose curl/wave, this has really helped me. I would say Anne is maybe a 3a, she's been doing this and her hair looked great.

For second day hair, Anne recommended that I take some Mist-er Right, spray it directly into my hands, and then go through the under-layers of my hair and use the liquid to "clean" my scalp w/ the same scrubbing motion you would use in the shower. I had always just sprayed this stuff on my hair alone, not worrying about my scalp. I've been getting good second, even third day hair like this.

Last one I thought was interesting. I was complaining about how I haven't been able to use Deva products b/c they were over conditioning my hair. She said that I should be using Low-Poo or just water washing, b/c my hair is in much better condition than before. She even said that if my hair feels hydrated, I don't need to use a CO. To me this was huge - it seems even Devachan people understanding modifying the CG routine! It's really common sense, but I guess I just needed permission to do what I thought was best.

Some of you may know these tips, but it was all new to me and I wanted to pass along the wisdom!

Do you think I could do the scalp refresher thing with some water with rosemary oil added? I know lavender is supposed to be cleansing but the smell gags me.

If it smells good put it in your hair, if it tastes good spit it out!
I like the idea of *scrunching* the hair when rinsing it out. Im gonna try that. Do u *scrunch* rinse when your head is right side up or when its rinsed upside down under the water ? BTW yur hair looks so good!

Wow, Your hair looks FANTASTIC! Women use curlers on their hair to get their hair to curl like yours. I love the color in the last few pictures too! Those are some great tips. Thanks for passing them along. I especially agree with if your hair is already properly conditioned there's no need to use more conditioner in the shower, it's really the only thing that I've found that prevents getting overconditioned. Thanks for sharing your pictures too! You and your hair are gorgeous!
Thank you all for the compliments

meriellyn - IMO, the most important thing about the scalp refresher is scrubbing the scalp, so I guess any kind of water and oil mix would work... Maybe someone w/ more experience could weigh in on this?

tinycurlyd - I should have mentioned this - Anne suggested that I put the water on low (like it says to do in the book), and then kinda lean my head to both sides to scrunch/rinse, and then upside down. I guess the idea is to scrunch your hair in every possible direction, and to not just have the water run down your hair so that it straightens out.

If you guys try these tips, let me know how they work for you!!

Your hair looks wonderful. How do you use the angel and set if free? Do you apply both to sopping wet hair with your head upside down? First the Angel, then the set if free, and scrunch? thanks.

bostonwaves: I'm glad the Mist-er Right thing worked for you!

CurlyJoviFan: Sure, you can take that pic. I'm flattered that you like the cut so much!

dreamcurls: I put SIF in first, and then ArcAngell over the top of it (I've tried Angell, but it doesn't have enough hold for me). I scrunch both into soaking wet hair, upside down. I like to put the SIF in my hands first so that I can control it more. I have plopped in the past, but recently I've just been using my microfiber towel to scrunch out some water.

Everyone: Thanks You are all so kind. I'm gonna have to remember this thread when I'm having a bad hair day, lol!
