Default Should I cut?

I posted this on the 3a board but I don't seem to be having much luck with responses. Maybe someone here can help...

I'm trying to decide if I want to cut my hair. The shortest piece, which is in the front, is a little shorter than shoulder length and the longest is a little below my shoulders (think the very bottom of my colloar bone). I'm starting to dislike the distance between the two. I think I'd like to trim the rest to shoulder length to try and distance that gap. There are some old photos in my fotki if that would help with the imagery. The password is bunny. Thanks!

Personally, I would say no. But, that is solely because I am suffering from the post-major-haircut blues. My hair used to be so long...past BSL when straight. What have I done?

The length of your hair is your pictures looks really good on you, though.

Doodles I know you have been having not so good hair lately too so I would say hold off. I am the same as you though when it's not going right I assume making a change will make it better. Give it 10 days.

By the way - you cannot cut I have still have your scissors!!!

Oops I thought I replied on the other forum but I must have dreamed it!
I say you cut a little length off and cut that layer out if you want to. Your hair seems to be curlier when a little shorter (or is that a camera trick?) so it might do well with a little trim and you'll be rid of that layer you don't want.

But then I would say that since I trimmed my hair and got some volume and curl bounce back so I'm all for it

I have gotten 3+ inches chopped off the back of my hair numerous times to even the gap between my top layer and my back layer. If you choose to do this, make sure whoever cuts your hair does not cut the top layer, too. I have had pretty much the same style for well over a year now. I feel it should've been grown out but my stylist (who has been cutting my hair for years and knows my goal) always seemed to "trim" the top to the point where it pretty much equaled what was chopped off the bottom b/c my top layer has more shrinkage. Hence, my layers never did catch up to one another. I recently switched stylists. Now I'm going to try to wait 9 months (gulp) for another trim.

I think a shorter cut would look good on you.
