How often can you go without..

Any CO wash, shampoo etc.
How many days? Today/tonight marks almost 5 full days that I have not
used anything on my hair other than mist with water, BUT it is not oily, greasy or anything.
It's actually pretty curly and soft, but it sounds so gross to go so long to me, not used to that at all.

It seems like my hair gets dryer as the days go by rather than get oilier.
Just the roots a tad.

So I'm just curious what is the longest some have you went.

At the most about 4 days, but by than my hair is a tangled very knotted mess.

If I go beyond 4 days my hair can even start to look like dreads  (ok i might be exagerating just a little) . Not saying I dont like dreads bc I do. But when curls start to look like something they are not suppose to thats not a good sign

I'm embarrassed to say how long I've gone without washing  but normally I go anywhere between 4-7 days. Seven is pushing it though... that usually only happens in extreme circumstances, like finals week or if I'm sick.

I've probably only gone about 4 days. I have to shower everyday and usually I only wash my hair every other day so that means I have to cover my hair and either take a bath or take a very...strange shower.

I can only make it about 3-4 days. It's easier for me to go a little longer in the winter. My roots don't have a ton of volume so after a few days they look kind of blah and my hair just hangs there.

Thanks! I am glad I am not the only one, my 16 year old son who has straight hair thinks I am soo gross when I mention I didn't wash my hair for so many days. He washes his every single day, but he wears his quite long and indeed looks oily if he does not.

I think I'll CO wash today since I'll be sitting in the dentist chair in a few hours :)

Gemini13 05-24-2007 09:15 AM

In the winter I only co-wash once a week, but I have to do it twice a week in the summer. However, I do condition daily.

it depends on the weather and what products I used when I washed. If I used a pretty strong gel and I still had at least clumped waves the next day I can usually go four days without washing. Some days I spritz with water some days I spritz and add some gel to the canopy.
My hair gets bigger as the days go on since I don't pineapple so four is about all I can pull off so far.

I'm with you, my hair gets dryer as time goes on. I'm sure it's the product, but that's what happens. I've gone 4 days and it wasn't the slightest bit greasy - horribly ugly, but not greasy

Jaxie 05-24-2007 02:32 PM

I've gone 5 days and it still looked good. I generally (at least) wet my hair everyday though.

Only 2 days for me. My hair gets bigger & bigger, but not in a good way, so I like to wash every single day, either with CO or low poo :P

waterlily716 05-24-2007 08:52 PM

I pretty much wash my hair every day. If I don't I get these annoying crimped/straight bits of hair that are frizzy and puffy. Plus my hair just feels gross. I co-wash (that means scrubbing the scalp with co right?) every day too or my scalp gets really itchy. If I'm feeling really lazy or stressed I might go two days without washing my hair and wear it up the 2nd day. I don't generally try to get 2nd day hair however (pineappling, etc).

I'm working on updos for third day hair. But, in general, my hair needs wet down and conditioned every other day, with about every day in the winter.

This is EXACTLY what happens to me on 2nd day hair :( I'm so afraid that my hair smells... not so good... I mean, if I oversleep or something, I have no choice but to not wet it, & then I'll pull up the front up or something, but I can't stand the feel of it either....
