Deva Trained Stylist Cut!

Well, I had my cut yesterday by a deva trained stylist. First I have to say - boy did I have hair envy!! She has the most beautiful curls and she is too darn cute! Oh well, to be in my mid 20s again (sigh). Back to the haircut. She had already seen my hair at the consultation but she did ask me to think about what I wanted done. I really just wanted a trim - I am trying to grow it about another 2 inches just to see if length works better or not. What used to be my bangs are about 2 inches then the rest of my hair on the side and fronts but not much she could do about that. She just trimmed certain curls all over - it was interesting to watch her pick out a curl - separate it from others and trim it. Because I have such thin hair there was no drastic cutting. After that was done - she just conditioned my hair (I had washed with a no sulfate poo on Monday). She scrunched me a bit with paper towels and then put in some B'leavin and Angell. Scrunched me some more upside down and then some right side up. Then she diffused me upside down for a bit and then some more upright. (she wanted to reproduce my routine as closely as possible). She did trim a couple of more curls after that.

I could tell my hair was definitely more springy. It was not quite dry when she crunched the product out so I got a bit of fluff. Today is the real test and so far it definitely looks much better. I have poo'd without sulfates and conditioned and plopped and diffused a bit - I cannot wait to scrunch the crunch out but I can tell the sides are much better and around my face too!

Thanks so much - it was a good experience. I just updated my fotki. As you can see she didnt cut any length off.

Checking them out now!!! :)

WOW!! It looks fabulous! She didn't take any length did she and yet it looks curlier and it looks very uniform -- awesome! Now I know I need to get a deva cut. Thanks for posting pics, your hair looks beautiful!!

Thank you sooo much - that makes me feel so good :D

I was so happy that she didnt take any length - she totally understood that! I really noticed a lot more curl this morning and less frizzies - so thats a good thing!

xcptnl - OMG - It came out beautiful. I'm jealous.

Are you able to do it yourself? Who did you end up going to/

Last week I discovered a deva trained stylist about 1 1/2 hours from me - so of course I made an appt!! I've had three terrible hair cuts by different people who got rave reviews on our review section, so that the last couple times I've cut my own hair. I hope this 'proffesional' can work around my.....umm......uneven length issues. Hey, cut me some slack, it's really hard to do the sides and back of your own head  Anyway, my appt is Saturday and you just sent me to the excited and happy side instead of the nervous/worried side. Your curls look fab!!

Thanks for the compliments!

The photos in my fotki are after I did my hair myself this morning. I think it actually looks better than after my cut because she does not plop- she scrunches with paper towels which is ok but I think plopping helps my hair (at this length anyways).

I was nervous because everytime I tell a stylist I just want it shaped/cleaned up I ended up losing 2 or more inches - she totally understood that I didnt want any length gone so she just went around my head and picked out curls to trim. I do still have the weird growing out bangs that are about 1-2 inches shorter than the sides of my hair but I am hoping those might be able to be blended in with the rest in the fall.

2happy - I really think most Deva trained stylists are more willing to work with you and your requests because the understand the issues of 'our' hair better. Please keep us updated!

Thanks so much! I went to the stylist in Amherst (Haireast). She is too darn cute and her hair is absolutely gorgeous!

It looks great! Then again, it looked good before too. :) You have nice curls. From the back you could be my sis, you have similar hair, even the color.

I think you'll need to change your sig line as your hair seems to be cooperating just fine! lol :)

How much did you pay for the cut? I'm just curious to see it the deva-trained (but not at salon) prices are comparable to here. Thanks.

It looks wonderful! There isn't much difference in the length but it does look really balanced and bouncier. Mine always looks better after I style it myself after getting it cut, too. I'm not one to care too much about the styling when I leave the salon; all I care about is that it's a good cut and looks good when I do it myself.

I'm so glad you had a great cut experience. Again, it looks SO good!

Thanks!

This stylist has it set up where she does a consult first -$18 but during that consultation she washes/conds (if you want both) and then styles your hair. Then you set up an appt (if you want to of course) to get the dry cut done. She charged me $52 for the cut/style appt. I think after the 1st appt the price goes down to $45.

When I looked at it, it didn't come up right away from the link. I clicked on "Photo albums" and there it was.
