Holy Grail products that have withstood the test of time!
It's easy to get excited about a new product and declare it as a HG, only to discover that the product doesn't work very well after a while. There have been posts on this site about this phenomenon. Some people say that hair gets "used" to it, and others say hair builds up with it. Whatever the reason, we wind up disappointed that it wasn't a holy grail product after all. I'm wondering how long people stay faithful to a HG product, and what all of your "time-tested" HG products are. After taking the poll, be sure to leave a post with the name of the product and how long you've been using it! (Oh, and put your hair type)

I voted for Boots Curling Cream for 6-9 Months - I have been using it since July and it is wonderful!
I would love to hear others' responses as well...

Fantasia Styling gel has worked wonderfully for me for more than 2 years. Although I play around and experiment, I always come back to this one!

I voted 6-9 months for Jessicurl Rockin' Ringlets. My hair is noticeably less curly if I don't use this every day. I've used it everyday since last May.

I've only started CG since august, and so any of my HG's are in the 3-6 month range. But I would definitely put Boots and Devacurl One C on that list since I've almost been using them from the very beginning!

I've been using Elucence Moisture Benefits shampoo since November 2003, and it's definitely a keeper for me - gentle and moisturizing. I mostly use it on the scalp only, but it doesn't strip my hair even when I do a full-length shampoo. Another HG is Jessicurl's Gelebration spray, which I've been using for about 6 months, maybe longer.
Hair type? The type that can't make up its mind! Most of the time my hair is wavy, with the odd spiral curl here and there.

Great idea for a poll!
My HG is a styling product - KMS Curl Up Control Creme.
I've been using it since just after I started CG and found NC.com, it's been almost 8 months.
For all of the experimenting and frustration I've done and had while trying to figure this whole going-with-my-hair's-flow thing (instead of blowdrying my thick, coarse wavy hair into submission on a regular basis), it's the one thing I've consistently had success and no problems with and always seem to come back to and love.
It enhances (or in my case this winter CREATES - as I've been straight to wavy with the weather) and defines curl, has fantastic hold but absolutely no crunch, no stickiness or producty feel, doesn't build up, is CG friendly as far as I can tell, leaves my hair shiny, boingy, frizz-free, soft, moisturized and fabulous. I can even use a bit of it on dry hair to define, refine, revive, etc. Also, I have used it from summer to winter with just as great results the whole time.
Only caveat is that if I am TOO heavy handed with it, it can look the TINIEST bit on the greasy side...
I'm still having trouble with my type, but I have been calling myself a 2A/3B - but somewhat coarse and semi-thick.
Anyway - my one HG so far.
M
ETA: And I use it completely ALONE!!! No layering - hooray!

I am still experimenting with a lot of products, but one that hasn't failed me yet during the cold months is Suave AV Gel. 3 months and still loving. Not sure if this will be a good one for the warm months.

I discovered NC.com about 1 1/2 years ago and started CG shortly after that. I do not use ONE single product from before that time -- I've changed absolutely everything. So my longest-running favorite is Jessicurl Aloeba (about a year). I'd put Jessicurl HCC in that category except that I've almost stopped needing to use it since I've switched to products that rinse out easily.
I have enough Boots to last me quite a while, and I suspect that may wind up being a long-term keeper too.

mine...
Since childhood (though I went away from it for a few years) are Luster's S Curl and Pink moisturizer mixed with olive oil. Delicious in my hair!

Elucence hands down.. I'm on CG so I don't use the shampoo anymore..but if I ever decide to shampoo again..it will be the only one that I will use.. I LOVE their Moisture Benefits Conditioner! I use to to wash or or leave in..I love it!!! My vote was 6-9 months..I believe I've been using it since last April.. possibly March..

I have been using Kenra Capture Glaze for almost 3 years and Redken Spin Control for about the same amount of time I think.
Some other products that have also withstood the test of time are JC Rockin Ringlets, John Sahag Zero Weight, Redken AntiSnap, and Biolage Detangling Solution.
