Joiwhip Users

Do you find that Joiwhip builds up? I purchased on Friday and holy curls! (Went to a graduation party yesterday and almost immediately somebody asked it they could touch my hair......twas a good hair day). But today (Monday), I'm still having what is considered a "great" hair day except for the fact that it looks like there could be some slight buildup already so soon. Maybe it's my imagination..........

Have had my hair short for almost a year now. No regrets! Still loving it!
I don't get any buildup from it. I suppose someone with a protein sensitivity could get protein buildup from it.

I don't get any build up from it. I cleanse my hair with LowPoo or Activate Poo once a week and I'm fine, But you may be sensitive to something in it.

Yes, I can't use Joiwhip. This is the only product I've used that I get build-up either the same night or the next day. Everyone seems to like it so I kept trying it every now and then, but I've had the same thing happen every time. I think my hair is sensitive to the protein in it, but I haven't found any other proteins that affect it yet.
This is a bit off-topic, but that reminds me of a question I had. How do you know if a product causes buildup on you? Does it feel like there's still product in your hair, even if you've rinsed? Or can you just feel "something" on your hair?

I'm just curious, because I've seen it mentioned so much, and I know it's important to avoid, but I really wasn't sure how to tell. Sorry for the dumb question...

Ditdah, I don't think it's a dumb question and it's not off topic at all! That was pretty much my question. What's going on for me right now is that it feels like there's something "off" with my hair - and, although it looks better than normal, I am just seeing "something" that isn't quite right. I do not know if what I'm seeing is buildup, though.

Have you clarified lately? Maybe that would help.

Usually it happens when I use a protein laden gel, in fact, just like today. I have some gels that I need to use up to get rid of them so although my hair "looks" good, I wont let my DH touch it because it has that straw-stiff feeling. I can get rid of that feeling by cowashing but that only is a stop-gap. After a few days I usually need to poo-wash and DT, which I do overnight on Friday or Sat. Sometimes if it feels really stiff, I will water wash when I get home from work, just so I can stand it until I go to bed.

I haven't noticed any build up with Joiwhip. I've also been using low poo every 10-14 days though, so that may be why.

As mentioned above, everybody reacts differently. Try to narrow it down by using it for a week, clarifying, then skipping it for a week (make sure the rest of your products are the same).
