Instructions/hints on rolling or wet setting hair?

I was wondering if anyone hat a link to some good instructions for how to roll or wet set hair. Preferably illustrated or photos or something else visual, but anything would help. Bonus if it gives hints on how to do it yourself.
I was cleaning house earlier and found all my rollers! I have the spongey rag-type, the bendy rod type ones, and two sets of hot rollers. I'm also thinking about picking up some of the hard plastic rod ones in a kinda large size to attempt the wet-setting thing.
The problem is, I've never been able to use this stuff on my own head. I've always had to bribe my mom into it and she's just too busy in general to care much about playing with my hair right now and i'm too excited about my find to wait on her. ;)

Any suggestions would greatly appreciated as I'm a complete noob at this. I don't even know how to section properly or what direction to roll it in for what effect or what kind of rods to look for. Will I need end papers? Are there special considerations for layered hair or long hair?

Suggestions for products that work well for these techniques would be greatly appreciated as well.

Thanks! :D
