Default Activate Price Hike, new info

I noticed on their site there was a customer service number. I called and questioned the EXTREME price increase, and yes, it is true, this is now the new price point.

The girl who answered told me that Walgreens.com and Ulta.com are still allowed to sell their remaining stock for $6.99. But, if they decide to continue to carry Activate, their new stock will be sold at the new pricing.

She was actually somewhat rude, and didn't seem to think the increase was that much of an issue.

I can take or leave this product, it is in my rotation, but it is totally not even close to HG for me. But, I think this company is so greedy now! I won't even buy one last round from Ulta just as a matter of principle.

If anyone is interested, the customer service number is 1-877-722-8488.

Just curious. What is the new price going to be?
I had this on my list of products to try.

D@mnit! That makes me mad. I really like the shampoo a lot. I'm really torn between picking up another bottle to have on hand or standing on principle and refusing to spend any more money on this company period. *sigh*

I just talked to customer service and they said that they're reformulating the whole line and the new crazy-expensive stuff will be salon only.

Who issued the everything-decent-must-be-reformulated decree?! If it ain't broke...

Grrr...Greedy, greedy folks. What are some other shampoos and conditioners in this price range? I just picked some up and I like it, but not enough to pay more. I also agree with the above poster, I won't buy it now just on principle.

I'm so sad! I just discovered the shampoo and I love it! I was so happy that I had an affordable alternative locally. Umm not for long. To stock up or not? Thanks for the info.

I think I'll probably save the money I'd spend on the Activate 'poo and when I re-up on Aloeba I'll order some HCC. I really like the Activate 'poo but I wasn't planning to but any shampoo for a while and I shouldn't break that to support a greedy company that's screwing me over. :P
I'm not responsible for my actions if I find some Activate on sale though.

So I couldn't resist and went to Walgreens to stock up And............YES Activate with an orange tag reading, last chance $5.49. I bought 3 bottles of the poo and a tub of the hair repair cream which was only $4.19. Everything from the line was on SALE.

Darn you!!
Luckily, my Walgreens doesn;t carry it so I'm safe as long as I don't make it up to Charleston anytime too soon.

Now this just ticks me off! I remember in an interview with one of the spokesmen, the lady said Activate was made to be AFFORDABLE, salon quality hair care targeted towards latinas.

Wow.

I really hope this kind of ploy doesn't catch on.

Bumping so people know to stock up.

The only way this price change/reformulation makes sense to me if is the company/brand was bought out, or there was a huge change in mangement. They're going to have to completely rebuild their image from affordable to exclusive and win a new customer base.

That is quite a price hike; do the new formulations sing and dance for us? - all I can say is once I finish the shampoo & conditioner, it's bye bye Activate. That is crazy!!

I wonder if they're going to be marketing the product in bigger & better-shaped bottles, & how the ingredients will be changed.

I am interested in how they will market too. I do not think I have ever really seen any advertisement for this brand in the first place, I think they have word of mouth and boards like this to thank for a lot of their initial success.

I just stocked up and bought a bottle of the conditioner. I didn't like it because it made my hair frizzy, but I'm planning on selling it on the swap board or ebay when it gets more valuable.

They are really wrong to jack up the prices, Stuff like this makes you see which companies only care about money, and which ones really care about the customers. I really like the repair deep treat. May have to stock up, even though they are a sucky company now :x

I went to Walgreens today and bought 2 bottles of the conditioner, all the Activate products were marked clearance.

I won't bother seeking out the reformulated products at the new jacked up prices. I like the shampoo & conditioner, but not enough to pay $20 for a small bottle.

I am going to check my local stores tomorrow. I am quite miffed at this price hike. I imagine that their sales will go down, or at least I hope that they do. Their reformulated version is probably going to be full of cones and harsh ingredients!
