Default Hair Obsession

My husband always tells me my hair looks good when I think it looks bad. Lately, I've been trying different products because I've been having bad hair days for about a month (in my opinion). My mom brought over a picture last night and my hair looked so good (I'm not bragging, I'm just surprised). Then I tried all night to remember what products I used (I even asked my son if I used pomade or SIF to get the crunch out). I tried remembering if I diffused upside down or side to side. Ugh, I think I may be obsessing about my hair too much and need a break! :x

Hey crazy obsessed Lady, I think we all go through that. I keep saying I'm going to keep a hair journal in my bathroom, but I never do.

Whenever I think I'm having a good hair day (that happens maybe once a month), nobody says a word about it, so then I wonder if it's really crap! So, then I'll try to take pictures and it isn't all that great in the picture....so then I look in the mirror and I like it.....then I look at the pic and it's yuk.....and so on and so on.......

If I have a semi good hair day, and the next day I wake up with potentially 2nd day hair, instead of going with it, I re-wet and start over to see if I can duplicate the day before . Why oh WHY do I blow an opportunity?!!!

I NEVER use the same products 2 days in a row. I KNOW I should, I tell myself that, but my crazy curiosity always makes me switch something up. I have too many products and an A.D.D. mind apparently.

Gee, I wonder why over two years later, my hair is still a battle everyday.....

I thought I was the only one! I have decided that either my hair isn't very photogenic, or I'm a crappy photographer.

Pinksugar I have decided that curlies obsess more over their hair - at least that is what I can tell from hanging with straightie friends. For me I always feel like it just does not look neat like theirs which is not a bad thing. I also think for me - I always think people are looking at my hair and thinking - did she pay for that perm?? What was she thinking??? So I understand your craziness.

My hair never photographs well unless maybe the photo is taken outside with a lot of light reflecting off of it. My face also tends to look kind of wrecked in pictures where my hair is curly. When I have straight hair I don't really worry that I will take a bad picture because I rarely do. I don't get it.
Oh and also- Maybe you should feel crazy about your hair obsession, but the great thing about these boards is that you can feel comfortable in knowing that you're not alone in your insanity. I'm definitely right there with you.

I've been hair obsessed for some long it's not even funny. Not only am I obsessed with perfect curls, but also length obsessed, I've been growing my hair out for years and still only have BSL. Oh and I hate it when I have good hair days when I have no where to go.

Wow, I am so hair obsessed it isn't funny. Seriously, I need a 12 step hair anonymous program My husband is constantly telling me that my hair looks good and that it doesn't look ANY different despite trying every hair product in the world! He also says that I'll never be satisfied with any product! Well, I've been using Jessicurl aloeba conditioner as a leave in , followed by her Confident Coils lotion, and I've been "satisfied" for 2 straight weeks!! It's a miracle !! However,as I go on this site practically every day, I know that I'll soon be trying something else!! I think I hear Sabino Moisture Block calling me

I am also told by my SO and my family that my hair pretty much looks the same from day to day and I apparently have been totally fooling myself!

I always wonder when my mom says that, if she is saying that to shut me up. She is always like "yes, yes" and "uh-huh." lol

Xcptnl, just to put your mind at ease, I think you have beautiful curly hair! Take it from a woman with naturally wavy hair who has been perming her hair for several years to get more curl; there are many women who would pay a lot of money to have hair like yours by perming their hair. Judging by your pictures, I don't think anyone can accuse you of having a bad perm!

Hey, it's not easy being a curly girl. :P

Yes, it is fun to try new products that smell nice and have interesting ingredients. However, people who call us "obsessed" need to realize that our hair has needs that must to be addressed in order to be healthy. We are not people who can just shampoo (conditioner optional) and blow-dry/air dry into a perfect, frizz-free mess! We have to be well-informed in order to take care of our hair properly.

The next time someone comments on our "hair obsession," we curlies/wavies should say, "Hey, it's science ".

Btw, xcptnl, you have beautiful curls!

I look at curly pictures on here and think I wish I could get my curls to look like theirs. Then my mom takes a picture (I swear she is the only person that can take a picture in which my hair looks good) and I'll think hey my hair looks like the pictures on nc.com! Then I will try to re-create it and just have consistent bad hair days because I keep switching products!

I thought I was getting good results from Ouidad again but I'm not! So I think the best were Re:coil and Devacurl or combination Re:coil, BRHG, SIF.

I've been waiting all day for some test results and found out my son's doctor left early. All I want to do now is go home and wash my hair!

Yes, I am product switcher and a too much product user junkie too. I always think one more layer or this product will make it better. I must stop this crazy train
