Need routine help

My old routine: Garnier S&S leave in on soaking wet hair in shower, squeeze out water. Plop in MF towel. Scrunch in HEBE gel and let air dry.

This was working ok but still a little frizz, and not enough wave formation in the back.

Yesterday I decided to straighten my hair (which I never do because it gets so flat) and used mousse to try to make it work better, and the mousse made my wavy hair so much nicer that I didn't even straighten it!

The only complaint I might have is the mousse didn't work for frizz control as well as gel, but I think gel is just too heavy for my wavy hair.

Should I try smoothing gel over my hair.. a spray gel.. a better cream/leave in?

just curious about what might work best :)
