Default What am I doing wrong?

Despite using what I believe are CG-friendly products and routines, I am still having problems. My hair is frizzy and feels dry. Please help me figure out what I need to change! Here is my routine:

Daily: Water wash and then condition with Jessicurl Too Shea, which I leave on for the duration of my shower and then rinse out.

Without squeezing the water out of my hair much, I detangle with a wide-tooth comb with my head upside down.

Still upside down, I scrunch the excess water out with a microfiber towel.

Still upside down, I scrunch in Jessicurl Aloeba Conditioner as a leave-in, then scrunch in BRHG.

I diffuse with a finger diffuser for about 3 minutes and then let my hair air dry. After about an hour, I scrunch out the crunch upside down.

Weekly: the only difference is that I cowash with V05 Kiwi & Lime instead of just water washing.

Could this be an overconditioning problem? A problem with the silk protein in BRHG? A problem with not enough moisture? Help!

It could be the silk protein in the BRHG or the oat protein in the Jessicurl items (although it's quite low).

Some people don't do well with oils also. For some it covers the hair to an extent where it's harder to get moisture later and can then get dry.

I don't think I do well with oils because I tried using olive oil on my hair and it simply made a mess.

Which products that I'm using contain oils? The Too Shea?

Both condtioners contain oils. I think it's part of why so many like them, but a few just can't do oils well.

Some can handle oils in product although straight oils bother them.

Thanks - you are right; it is both conditioners that contain oils. I guess I've got a little more experimenting to do! I need to rule out the oil as well as the protein in the BRHG. I have the old formula, so I was hoping the protein in it would be negligible enough to not bother my hair. I was also hoping I was one of the people whose hair can handle oil in a product even if it can't handle straight oil. Grrr...

It'd be nice if it was just the BRHG - it's the easiest to rule out.

I'll try that first.

If changing gels doesn't work, I'll try switching conditioners. Do you think if I use the V05 Kiwi & Lime by itself it won't be too drying? It seems like I've read that it's too drying for everyday use. That's the only other conditioner I have that doesn't have 'cones in it.
