bad salon experience today :( (long rant!)

I guess it's not the worst type, because I didn't get a bad cut or anything.

I made an appointment three weeks ago with a hairstylist i've been using (who I found t hrough this website!) who is fantastic. She's at the Red Door Spa, and I had been to see her at one of their locations close to my place. Today's appt was at a different lcoation but same stylist.

I was running a little late because the directions I got off the internet misjudged how long it would take me to get there, so I called before my appt time and told them I was running 10 minutes late. They looked up my info in their system, and said ok.

I got there and checked in (was excatly 10 minutes late, no more), but when the girl pulled up my info in the system she nudged the woman next to her and said "it's her." So the other woman came over and told me that my appointment was cancelled because I was late. I told her I had called and was told it was fine, no one told me otherwise when I called, and if they were expecting me to tell me I had been cancelled, they could have at least called me and let me know before I drove 40 mins to get there! She was really indifferent, told me yeah the girl you talked to didn't know, would you like to reschedule for another day? I was really angry and didn't want to be rude, so I just said no and left.

I called a bit later and asked for a manager and explained the situation. She was very sweet, very apologetic, said she'd speak with the girls up fromt about it because they had handled the situation improperly and should have called me, etc etc. She said she noted in my file that I'll get a discount on my next service, but honestly I don't want to go back there. I may use the stylist again (it wasn't her fault) but definitely not at this particular location.

Arg!

WTF?? the last and only time I got a facial at a red door spa, I was early, changed into the robe and stuff, and was kept waiting for about a half hour after my scheduled appointment time.

I won't be going back there for anything. If you can use the stylist somewhere else, that is great.

That's crazy! I can see if you were going to be 20 or 30 minutes late, but 10 minutes? I have had to call my stylist once or twice because I was going to be late by maybe 5 to 10 minutes at the most and it has always been fine. They very rarely ever see you right when you walk through the door anyway so that should not have been that big of a deal. I definitely wouldn't be going back to that location.

Sorry you had the aggro and missed your cut. I think the manager handled the disconnect pretty well. What are you going to do for a cut?

i'm going to visit my parents tomorrow for about a week, so my mom made me an appt with her lady for mid-week. she likes her a lot so hopefully she'll do an okay job. at the moment i just need my ends trimmed slightly so no biggie about who does it. hopefully it goes ok!
