Default When you just have to go out with messy hair

what do you do with it?

This morning I left my 22 month old out of my site for 2 seconds and he took it upon himself to clean the bathroom, using my entire bottle of conditioner. Thankfully it's just .99 Vo5, so not really a big deal. So no choice but to go out with very messy hair. I try and hide it best I can, but I always feel it's obvious that I have bed head.

Today I combed it and bunned it. Other things I do, is a quick twist with a clip, or that loopy scrunchie thing where it's like a pony tail, you just don't pull it all the way through. Anything to hide the messy length, I just deal with halo frizz, nothing but washing ever seems to make those look neat again.

So what are everyone else like to do?

Normally, i really can't go out with third day hair, so i put in a ponytail most of the time. When it gets really bad i put it up in a messy bun. After two days, i definitly have to wash again.

Buns and other updos are my friend! Honestly, I just can't wear it down when it's messy. I feel ugly, even though I know that most likely no one will notice. I'm learning different updo styles so that I can feel polished on days like this. I love Chinese, cinnamon, and figure 8 buns. They hide the length well and they can look sophisticated or fun, depending on what you use to hold them in place.

Yeah, like CurlyxMasie, I put my hair in a messy bun. However, I'm trying to cut down on it because I think it's breaking/damaging my hair and plus it makes it UNBELIEVABLY tangled. Plus when I take it down it's a total triangle. My hair is so stiff, it stays kind of "up", if you know what I mean. But this could be because usually when I'm doing this, my hair is not freshly conditioned - if it's nice and fresh it's not that..."stiff."

I skip the ponytail and go right for the messy bun. My ends never look right in a ponytail. I might also do a half up/half down thing.

Yes they do! I love how easy the instructions are to follow and this is coming from a hair klutz. I learned to feel pretty wearing my hair up because of this that site and the long hair community forum as well.

Messy bun, or two braids either side with some pincurls dangling around my face.

My best friends are my baby butterfly claws. They are so tiny, but invaluable for holding back stray fuzzy bits. Sometimes I wear them across my head from ear to ear, and it looks nice, like a tiara. Other times I put them in the sides to hold back the fuzz.

Can't tell you what I will do when they eventually break. I haven't seen any others as good, and can't recall where I got them!!

I do this too. Those are my favorite hide-the-bad-hair styles. Or just the get-them-out-of-my-face ones! LOL

Depends on what exactly is making it look bad. I might just put it up in a ponytail (or bun, when my hair was longer). If I really want to make an effort I'd wet it a little first and apply some gel to take care of halo frizz. Or I might use a claw clip to clip the sides of my hair back.

I do the same - I usually use 3 - each side and one in the middle. I like that they are little and kinda blend into my hair. I think I am going to invest in some bobbie pins though - someone else posted they use those to tuck up hair too.

If I can't make it look good with a headband, I throw on a baseball cap. Then I don't worry so much about how my hair looks!

I had a surprise b-day party to go to Saturday night - it was humid and I just knew it was going to be a problem. I showered plenty early, and was letting my hair air dry. About 45 minutes into it, I could see it was going to be a disaster. I re-wet it and started over. I ended up messing that up also, and spent so much time fussing with it, I was ready to cry. I grabbed my claw clip, through it up, pulled a few 'bangs' out and said "FINE- I'm DONE"!

A friend of mine said "oh, your hair looks so cute", and my SO pipes up "Yup, it only took her 4 hours". HA HA....funny

Without my claw clip or my baseball cap, I'd never get out of the house in the summer.

I wear mine in a low ponytail a lot, on days when I'm not going to fuss with it (usually days off). Plus, if I'm on the bus or sometimes riding in a car (I don't drive--yet!) those claw clips can poke the back of my head. I don't like them on the very top of my head. I wear those for work sometimes though, when I'm not leaning my head back so much .

I'd like to see some pics of everyone with their hair up and/or in clips. Doesn't seem like we put those up so much.

Yes they do! I lean my seat back a little more so it doesn't press into my head.
