I heard that you can spray lavender water on your hair to get great second day hair. Is this true? And where can i get it?

I don't know if you can buy it made, but I do know the recipe from the CG book:

Ingredients:
1/2 gallon water
5 drops pure (not synthetic) lavender essential oil
A spray bottle (though this makes enough for 3 spray bottles)

1. Fill a big pot with the water
2. Cover, boil, and swimmer for an hour to get rid of impurities, but make sure the water doesn't boil away.
3. Remove from the heat, add the lavender oil, stir, and replace the lid.
4. Let it cool, and then put it in the bottles.

I'm lazy. I just fill a spray bottle with water and add two drops of lavendar oil. I shake it very well before using.

Seems to work, it smells good anyway!

DevaCurl Mister Right is basically lavender water.
I love it for second day hair. Isn't producty and leaves a nice scent.

Hi,

When I tried the curly girl book lavendar water recipie - what I got was lousy and it went down the drain.


But when I purchased it ready made it smells great and I used it every as
part of my morning routine. The aromatherapy gets me ready to start my day and smells great during my morning commute to work.

I get mine at my local Co-op which is the same as a Trader Joe's or Mom's any other organic/health food store. You will find it near the essential oils and/or beauty care products. I alternate the lavendar water with Jasmine water, depending on my mood.

My mom loves DevaCurl Mister Right as a refresher and as mentioned above, it's mainly lavander water. I'm not too keen on it myself but lots of people seem to like it.
You can buy pre mixed lavendar water at Whole Foods in the beauty area by the essential oils and jojoba and what not. It's in a pink bottle.

I personally loathe the smell of lavendar so I prefer rosemary. I've recently come to like Oyin's Greg Juice as a refresher. It contains lavander but not as the main or only ingredient so it doesn't bother me.
Jessicurl also makes a refresher spray called Awe Inspiralling and you can get it in Lavendar Citrus.

Just wondering, (sorry if this is a stupid question!) what exactly do you mean by second day hair?? I work out almost every morning before work so I have to shower. Does second day hair mean not showering? Also, when I wake up in the morning, my frizz is off the charts, I can't IMAGINE going out like that!

I'm weird, I had good luck with the homemade recipe, but can't stand the Mister Right. For some strange reason my hair always feels sticky after using it. So much so that I always end up rechecking what I used to make sure it's not SMU

I am the same way. Whenever I use SIF or any other spray in product on dry hair - I have issues. But when I made up some of the spray (water, aloe, flax, etc) it worked much better and I didnt get that nasty producty feel.

That's just it - 2nd day hair IS being able to go out like that because it still looks great without rewetting and redoing it!
