Which product and where do I start

Hello curly girls! I must first off admit that I am a former slave to the blow dryer and flat iron!!! But since the birth of my two girls (17 months apart) I have been forced to love my natural hair. Because who has time for all of that. That being said I haven't straightened my hair in forever....I don't have beautiful curls like most of you...I have thick, course, wavy hair. But I have been loving it more and more. Right now I shower at night and go to bed with wet hair. I have no product routine, don't plop (though I would love to know what that is) or diffuse. I just don't know where to start. What products do I need? How do I let it dry? I usually just pull it back in a pony tail but I would love for it to look nice enough to wear down. Like I said my hair is course so it gets frizzy!! It is long like to the middle of my back. Any suggestion for this lost new curly girl? Thanks in advance

Well, you may want to try the Curly Girl routine. Here's a link that explains that, and here's a link that explains it in literally Kindergarten terms. It's a really good idea to try it, because it really helps.

As for plopping, it's a technique to help your hair set into clumps. Here's an article with pictures about plopping.

Since you blowdried/flatironed a lot, your hair may be dry or damaged. I suggest doing a deep treatment (DT) once a week. Jessicurl Weekly Deep Treatment, Ouidad Deep Treatment, and even DevaCare One C/Jessicurl Too Shea! - which are regular conditioners - work as DTs. You can basically use any conditioner and make it a DT by adding heat or some oil/s.

As for products, most people like to use a good, moisturizing conditioner; a styling cream and/or leave-in condish (which may just be your regular, daily condish); and a good, heavy gel.

HTH, and welcome!

ETA: I forgot. Towels are important too; regular terry ones can cause frizz. Microfiber towels work very well. Also, especially since you sleep with wet hair, a satin pillowcase is key. It helps to keep your hair tangle-free and smooth even after sleeping.
