Default Looking to cheat on Deva

Since going on strict CG, I have only been using CG products (no poo once a week, one condition everyday left in, and then angell). But I am curious to try at least try another gel. I feel like I need SO MUCH of the angell. I have long, thick hair- a litle below my shoulders, with a serious battle of frizz each morning. I really want something that can make my hair more clumpy, and fight the frizz. Can all of you curly girls tell me your favorite CG gel that works best for them? I would love to hear from all of you, and if your hair type is similar to mine, even better! Thanks again.

I'm a 3B/A blend with thick coarse hair.

I like gels in the summer for humidity issues. I haven't found a gel that makes my curls more clumpy. For me, the cost of fighting frizz for any length of time is skinnier curls.

However for hold and frizz fighting I like Herbal Essences Set Me Up (HESMU or just SMU on here) or Biosilk Rock Hard Gelee (BRHG). But, I still have last years formula of the BRHG. I can't speak for the new one.

I also hear many raves for LA Looks Sports Gel.

You don't need to use Deva Curl products to be on strict CG. In fact, Deva Curl One Condition is not CG-friendly.

Most drugstore and curlmart gels seem to be CG-friendly so you have plenty of choices. I really like Aura Hypo (available only at Sally's) for light gel needs and ic Fantasia w/ Sparkle Lites (available in the Black hair section of many drugstores) for heavy gel needs. I like both...and both are pretty cheap...and CG.

A lot of people like Herbal Essences something-or-other gel but I've never tried it.

thanks for the suggestions. Does the herbal essence, biosilk, or aura give you flakiness?

If you like the results you get with Angell, you may want to try Devacare Arc Angell or Nexxus Phyto Organics Redefining Gel. Both give a similar look but with more hold, so you don't have to use as much. The Nexxus especially only needs about 2 small puddles.

I think Lorraine Massey suggests leaving in more conditioner to fight frizz. I like Angell a lot, but fo rme it works much better over a creamy leave-in: Beauty without Cruely, Abba, SheaMoisture Sheabutter leave-ins. I'm alternating these.

ITA but with my fine hair I use less creamier stuff under it but I still use a creamy product under it.

Thanks, really helpful suggestions! I am excited to try out new products.
Just to double check- is the abba CG? Is it actually a leave in, or a regular conditioner?

I was also wondering if the BioSilk Hard gel is CG? Can it be rinsed out with just one condition or no poo? thanks again!
