Default Could protein be my problem?

I added some new pics to my fotki to show my problem I thought my hair looked good till I asked my husband to take some pic's of me outside, my hair looks so dry and frizzy....but my hair feels soft! I have not had a trim in a long time so I know that can add to it. The products that I have been using are Suave Coconut, Acivate ,V05 tea therapy and LA Looks Sport gel. In the pictures outside I used freeman sea kelp condish that day. If I air dry I get ropey type curls but less frizz. I don't know what to try? I think I may give myself a trim in the morning.....any help would be greatTIA, Kaelyn

I'm not sure what it is. But, if your hair feels soft, it's probably not protein. Protein buildup/sensitivity makes your hair feel really dry, like hay or straw.

Sometimes overconditioning leaves hair frizzy yet soft. But, I'll let those more prone to this chime in more fully.

I double the overconditioning theory.

AHC is very moisturizing and Tea Therapy is pretty moisturizing too...I haven't tried the other conditioners so I'm not sure how moisturizing they are. So anyways, if you're using those two together, it could lead to overconditioning. However, AHC has some proteins that made me not be able to use it for long, so it could be a combo of both overconditioning and protein overload, maybe. Try using just one or two conditioners instead of 3 and try not using AHC and Tea Therapy together and see what happens.

HTH, good luck!

ETA: I just looked at some of the pics and your hair is so pretty! It might be a tad overconditioned if anything, but remember that the sun is a pretty strong light and tends to show a lot of extra frizz that one doesn't normally see (at least, that's what I've realized).

You are very pretty- especially in the pic with your SO.
I know that doesn't help your problem at all, but I thought you might appreciate my opinion.

I had a feeling that may be it...not sure what to do about it?

I only use 2 conditioners one to CO wash with then one to condition with, I make sure to wash it all out pretty good. I will try using just one and see if that helps Thanks!

I had the same exact problem with the Suave Coconut! Bet that's the problem. I loved the smell but after a couple of weeks my hair was like straw.
I have since switched to VO5 Tea Therapy Vanilla Mint. My hair has been much better.

I agree about the sunlight. Your hair is beautiful.
